Collin Klein Reveals New Wildcats Players Set to Impress Fans

Coach Collin Klein highlights key players set to invigorate Kansas State's roster despite recent transfer challenges.

Kansas State is navigating a challenging offseason with some notable departures through the transfer portal, losing key players like Austin Romaine, Jayce Brown, and Qua Moss. These losses certainly sting for a team eager to bounce back from a tough 2025 season. However, the incoming talent might just tip the scales in their favor.

Head coach Collin Klein is optimistic about the new faces joining the Wildcats. In a recent interview, Klein emphasized a return to fundamentals and a blue-collar mentality.

"We’re gonna be football guys," Klein stated. "We’re looking for players who are fundamentally sound, compete hard, and show their grit on tape."

One of the standout additions is Elijah Hill, an edge rusher who racked up 22 total tackles and 9 tackles for loss last season. Klein is excited about Hill's potential impact alongside Wendell Gregory. "These guys on the edge are going to have a chance to make a real difference," he noted.

On the offensive side, retaining wide receiver Jaron Tibbs was a significant win for the Wildcats. Tibbs, with 45 receptions, 552 yards, and 2 touchdowns, brings elite size and production to the table. "Keeping Jaron was huge for us," Klein said, highlighting Tibbs' impressive stats and physical attributes.

Tight end Garrett Oakley is another key player staying put. With 38 receptions, 389 yards, and 6 touchdowns, Oakley's presence is crucial. "Retaining Garrett and Joe Jackson is massive for our offense," Klein added.

Defensively, the Wildcats managed to hold onto cornerbacks Zachon Rich and Donovan McIntosh. Rich, with 51 total tackles and 10 passes defended, and McIntosh, with 31 tackles and 4 passes defended, are vital to the team's secondary. "Keeping those guys in the defensive perimeter is a big plus," Klein remarked, emphasizing the strength of their young talent pool.

Klein is focused on building a program that nurtures and develops talent into foundational pieces. "Being a developmental program means we can cultivate talent effectively," he explained. "I’m eager to see how these pieces come together after spring practices."

Kansas State fans have reason to be hopeful as the Wildcats aim to turn these new additions into a cohesive and competitive unit on the field.
