Dylan Edwards is officially headed to Lawrence.
The former Colorado running back committed to Kansas on Sunday, delivering a significant win for a Jayhawks program that’s been chasing him for years. This wasn’t a casual recruitment-it’s been a long-term pursuit by Lance Leipold and his staff, dating back to Edwards’ high school days.
Back then, KU was playing catch-up. Leipold had just taken over the program, and his staff was late to the party in Edwards’ initial recruitment.
Still, they made a push. They got him on campus multiple times, built relationships, and showed real interest.
Ultimately, Edwards chose a different path, but KU had made enough of an impression to stay in the picture.
Fast forward to this offseason, when Edwards hit the transfer portal after a stint at Colorado. Once again, Kansas didn’t hesitate-they jumped back into the mix.
And while most signs pointed to Kansas State as the likely landing spot, the Jayhawks didn’t back down. They made their pitch again, knowing the odds and embracing the challenge.
That persistence paid off.
Edwards took an official visit to KU on Friday, and by Sunday, he was in. For Kansas, this is more than just a roster addition-it’s a recruiting statement. Landing a player they’ve long coveted, especially one with ties to in-state rival Kansas State, is a clear sign of the program’s momentum and staying power on the recruiting trail.
Edwards brings speed, versatility, and high-level experience to the Jayhawks’ backfield. But more than that, he represents a win that KU had to grind for-and finally got.
