The Kansas Jayhawks are gearing up for their NCAA Tournament journey, and all eyes are on their standout player, Darryn Peterson. Despite a freshman season that didn't go as expected, Peterson is ready to shine in the Big Dance.
Peterson's season was marred by a hamstring injury and persistent cramping, causing him to miss 11 games. However, as the postseason kicks off, he's been a consistent presence on the court, determined to leave those issues behind.
During a recent media session, Peterson expressed his passion for the game, emphasizing his eagerness to play through those missed opportunities. Now, his focus is on leading Kansas to a deep run in the tournament.
"I'm not worried anymore. I've played several games without any issues," Peterson stated confidently. "I feel like the cramps are behind me."
Having played in seven consecutive games, Peterson assures fans he's at full strength heading into the tournament.
Kansas head coach Bill Self has consistently praised Peterson's ability to carry the team, and fans are hopeful that this is the moment he leads them to glory.
The Jayhawks face Cal Baptist in the first round on Friday night, with tipoff scheduled for 9:45 p.m. EST in San Diego.
