Bill Self and Kansas have added another notable name to the September recruiting calendar, with 4-star forward Zion Green now lined up for an official visit to Lawrence from Sept. 18-20, according to 247 Sports.
That trip makes Green the fifth Class of 2027 prospect scheduled to be on campus during this recruiting cycle, a sign that Kansas is keeping the pressure on in a busy stretch on the trail.
Green, who is heading into his senior year at Compass Prep in Arizona, comes in with a strong national profile. The Rivals Industry Rankings slot him at No. 23 overall in the country and the No. 8 small forward in his graduating class.
At 6-foot-9 and 190 pounds, he brings the kind of length and versatility that pops immediately. He can score around the rim, finish through contact, and use his size to create problems on both ends.
The bigger question is how his frame translates at the next level. Green is still under 200 pounds, which leaves some uncertainty about where he ultimately fits positionally in college. Even so, there’s enough there to see the outline of a future Division I starter at power forward if he adds strength over the next year.
Kansas will get Green after a packed run of visitors in Lawrence. Class of 2027 prospects Malachi Jordan and Jalen White are set to be on campus the weekend before him, and they’ll be joined by Class of 2028 recruit Parker McDaniel. The Jayhawks also hosted Antonio Pemberton and Real Madrid guard Fabian Kayser in August.
The Jayhawks extended an offer to Green in May and are battling Oklahoma and Alabama for his commitment. He is also scheduled to visit both of those programs later this month.
With the way Kansas has stacked its visit list, Green may not be the only recruit making the trip to Lawrence from Sept. 18-20.
