Major League Baseball is sending the “Field of Dreams Game” back to Dyersville, Iowa in 2027, and this time the broadcast home will be different too.
The league announced that the Aug. 12 matchup will feature the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals, with NBC and Peacock handling television and streaming duties. The game will return to the familiar setting that has become part of the event’s identity, even as the viewing platform shifts away from Netflix.

The 2027 game will be the fourth in the series inspired by Canadian novelist W.P. Kinsella’s 1982 novel Shoeless Joe and its 1989 film adaptation.
Thursday’s game - a 7-1 Philadelphia Phillies win over the Minnesota Twins on Aug. 13 - was the third-ever installment, following the event’s start in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the original 2020 date. The Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees 9-8 in that first game.
The event returned in August 2022 on Fox, when the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cincinnati Reds 4-2, before Thursday’s Phillies-Twins matchup brought it back after a four-year absence.
