Xavier Worthy Just Gave Chiefs Fans Another Reason To Love Him

Xavier Worthy continues his heartfelt tradition at Chiefs training camp, delighting fans while gearing up for a promising season.

For the second straight year, Xavier Worthy made a young fan’s day at Kansas City Chiefs training camp with a PS5 giveaway.

Worthy, now in his third year with the Chiefs, pulled the gaming console out of his car and handed it to a fan, then signed the kid’s jersey. The fan looked starstruck, and the gesture has now turned into a bit of a camp tradition.

Whether it happens again next summer will have to wait. For now, the focus shifts to the Chiefs’ second preseason game.

Worthy came into the league as a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Texas, where he was a two-time First-team All-Big 12 selection and once earned Second-team All-Big 12 honors. Kansas City was hoping his speed would make him the team’s next big answer at wide receiver, maybe even the closest thing to a Tyreek Hill replacement.

His rookie year offered some encouraging signs. Worthy finished with 59 catches for 638 yards and six touchdowns, while also adding 104 rushing yards and three scores on the ground.

He then flashed on the biggest stage in the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, catching eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Even if those scores came in garbage time, they still stood out as a strong sign of what he could do.

His second season started badly. In the Chiefs’ Week 1 loss, Worthy collided with Travis Kelce in the first quarter and suffered a dislocated shoulder, forcing him to miss the next two games.

He eventually returned, but the year never fully took off. Worthy ended the season with 42 receptions for 532 yards and one touchdown, along with 87 rushing yards.

The Chiefs are trying to bounce back after finishing 6-11 in 2025, a season that ended with the franchise missing the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Chiefs Could Turn One Summer Surplus Into A Needed Defensive Fix

The Chiefs have found themselves with an unusual kind of summertime problem: more capable cornerbacks than jobs for them. During the 2026 offseason and training camp, Kansas City has built enough depth at the position that Kristian Fulton has become a name worth watching, not just for what he can do on the roster, but for what he might bring back in a deal. With the secondary looking crowded, the conversation has shifted from whether the Chiefs have enough corners to whether they can turn that surplus into help somewhere else.

One area that could use it is the defensive tackle rotation, where more flexibility up front would give Steve Spagnuolo another way to manage the defense over the long season. A trade built around Fulton and a draft pick has been floated as a way to address that need, giving Kansas City a chance to convert a crowded cornerback room into a steadier interior presence. The Chiefs do not need to force a move, but the fact that they can even consider one says plenty about how their roster has changed over the summer. [Read more 🡒]

Chiefs Roster Bubble Could Claim Names Fans Expected To Matter

The Chiefs have spent the offseason reshaping the roster, and the changes have been broad enough that even some recent additions are no longer safe as Kansas City heads toward its 53-man deadline. The backfield has been remade with new signings and draft picks, while the bigger picture has been affected by trades, injuries and a clear push to build the roster around the direction the front office wants to take into the new season.

Emari Demercado is among the names now sitting on the bubble despite joining the team in free agency, a reminder of how quickly the depth chart can shift in August. Kristian Fulton also has work to do after being limited in camp by a hip injury and showing up buried on the depth chart in the first preseason game, while Andrew Armstrong is part of the group trying to survive the final round of cuts as Kansas City sorts out which pieces fit best. Chiefs Receiver Uncertainty Keeps One Reunion Rumor Very Much Alive

The Chiefs have spent the offseason trying to smooth out one of the more familiar questions on their roster: how much more help the passing game still needs at wide receiver. Even with the offense built around Patrick Mahomes and a scheme that can mask a lot, the conversation around Kansas City keeps circling back to whether another proven target would raise the ceiling again. Bleacher Report has also kept that discussion moving, reflecting how closely the league still watches the Chiefs whenever receiver uncertainty lingers.

The rumor mill naturally drifts toward a familiar name whenever Kansas City is looking for another jolt at that spot, and the fit is obvious enough to keep the idea alive. What complicates the picture is the players health, which has left the Chiefs unable to even get to the point of a workout right now. Until that changes, the speculation remains just that, but it is the kind of possibility that will not disappear as long as the receiver room stays under a spotlight. [Read more 🡒]
