Tyreek Hill may not be finished with the NFL, and if he gets the green light to return, one destination is already sitting at the top of his list.
The free agent is still working back from the brutal knee dislocation he suffered in September 2025, an injury that included damage to both his ACL and LCL. At 32, and with the wear that comes with that kind of setback, Hill’s next step remains uncertain. But according to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Chiefs are the team he still feels strongest about.
“Tyreek Hill remains fond of the Chiefs, and a potential in-season signing would make a lot of sense,” per Fowler via Underdog NFL.
Hill spent his first six seasons with Kansas City, and a reunion would not be out of the question if the price is right. Some Chiefs fans are already on board with the idea, and if Hill is able to come back fully healthy, he would give Kansas City another dangerous weapon this season.
For now, though, the timeline is still cloudy. Because of the severity of the injury, many expected Hill to be out for a long stretch, and some even wondered whether his career might be over.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said doctors have recommended waiting until at least October 2026 before a comeback. The goal, according to Rosenhaus, is to keep Hill from returning too soon and to make sure he’s healthy enough to play at a high level again.
There were also signs that Hill’s respect for the Chiefs has never really faded. Before Patrick Mahomes returned to action after being sidelined for nine months, Hill sent him a two-word message of encouragement. Mahomes, like Hill, dealt with a serious ACL and LCL injury in 2025.
