Trevor Lawrence Just Gave Jaguars Fans An MVP Reason To Care

Emerging stars shake up the Week 7 NFL MVP race, with standout performances reshuffling the leaderboard.

Six weeks into the NFL season, the MVP picture is starting to take shape, and the top of the board has a new name on it. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has surged into first place after another huge performance, while Kenneth Walker III made a strong move of his own with a big return from the bye.

Smith-Njigba earned the top spot after getting targeted 16 times in Seattle’s loss to the Broncos. He turned that volume into 12 catches for 134 yards, and the numbers behind his start are becoming hard to ignore. Through six games, he is tied for the league lead with 49 receptions, while also pacing the NFL in receiving yards with 717 and receiving touchdowns with seven.

Brock Purdy slides to second, but he’s still putting together an MVP-caliber stretch for the 49ers. In the latest win, he completed 21 of 29 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown as San Francisco stayed unbeaten. He remains tied for the NFL lead with 14 passing touchdowns.

Walker III now sits third after a statement outing for the Chiefs. Coming off the bye, he averaged 6.7 yards per carry and finished with 128 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Kansas City is one of three undefeated teams left, and Walker III now leads the league with 665 rushing yards and a 6.3 yards-per-carry average. He also has six rushing touchdowns.

Josh Allen holds down fourth after another productive day in Buffalo’s win over the Raiders. He threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 1,504 passing yards on the season.

He also has 240 rushing yards and 17 total offensive touchdowns. The Bills sit at 5-1 and lead the AFC East.

Trevor Lawrence breaks into the top five for the first time this season despite Jacksonville’s loss to the Texans. He threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns in that game, and his season total now stands at 1,480 passing yards and 14 touchdowns.

That ties him with Purdy for the league lead. The Jaguars are 4-2.

The rest of the top 10 features Jared Goff at No. 6, Bijan Robinson at No.

7, Patrick Mahomes at No. 8, Jahmyr Gibbs at No. 9 and Bryce Young at No.

Mahomes completed 23 of 30 passes for 272 yards and one interception, helping push the Chiefs to 5-0 while adding yet another reminder of how quickly his career has moved into historic territory.
