Travis Kelce is heading into his 14th NFL season, but the chatter around the Chiefs tight end has shifted from what he’ll do next on the field to whether this is the end of the road.
Kelce, who signed a one-year deal with Kansas City earlier this year, returned to training this week after marrying Taylor Swift at Madison Square Garden on July 3. He still hasn’t said publicly that this will be his final season, though he has said he’ll know when it’s time to walk away.
That hasn’t stopped the retirement talk from building. On Monday, former NFL wide receiver and Hall of Famer Cris Carter all but poured fuel on it in an Instagram post featuring himself with Kelce and trainers Andrew Spruill and Johnny Olsen. Carter said the three have worked with Kelce for years during the NFL offseason and called it the tight end’s “last dance.”
“Andrew and I started with Travis before his rookie year in the NFL. Know the 🐐 is preparing for THE LAST DANCE. Next stop Canton/HOF,” Carter wrote on Instagram.
In the photo, Kelce stood with his longtime trainers while wearing a T-shirt representing his alma mater, the Cincinnati Bears.
The wedding itself has remained mostly private, but Jason Kelce added one new detail on Tuesday morning during an appearance on “The Ross Tucker Football podcast.” The former Philadelphia Eagles center said Travis did sing a few notes during the reception and said his brother can actually sing.
“Yeah, Trav can sing. Trav has always being able to carry a tune.
Obviously, paled in comparison to some of the other people singing that night, but he did okay. I think the Tuckers definitely have us beat in beer pong, I know that.
I don’t know if I’ve ever met a better beer pong player than Ross Tucker. So, we can sing all right.
Trav is very good. But, yeah," Jason Kelce said via "The Ross Tucker Football podcast."
The couple also released a statement confirming the wedding and noted that both wore Dior for their attire.
