Travis Kelce recently took a playful jab at TMZ's coverage of his mother's home renovation. The media outlet reported that Donna Kelce is revamping her Florida residence, complete with new windows and doors, a revelation that even caught her sons by surprise.
During an appearance on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, Travis humorously commented, “I didn’t even know she was doing these things. If she needed a guy to come screw some door hinges in, she could have called me.
But I guess she’s doing a big, massive renovation.”
Joining in on the fun, his brother Jason Kelce, former Philadelphia Eagles center and host of the New Heights podcast, added to the mockery. Responding to the TMZ tweet, he quipped, “BREAKING!! Sources confirm Donna Kelce’s eldest son watched 2 hours of Bluey yesterday.”
While the home makeover might be newsworthy for some, Donna possibly chose not to involve Travis, who was busy making a significant career decision. The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end is set to return for his 14th season, after reportedly signing a one-year, $12 million contract.
Despite a challenging 6-11 season, Kelce told McAfee that thoughts of retiring or leaving Kansas City were fleeting. “I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty short and brief,” he said.
“And the Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it.”
At 36, Kelce wanted a moment to reflect after posting 851 yards and five touchdowns in 2025. Ultimately, his passion for the game and loyalty to the franchise that drafted him in 2013 prevailed.
“You always need to take a step back, breathe, let the emotions of the season settle down, and see where the body is and things like that,” Kelce explained. “But man, I’m still in love with this game.
I still love going to work, putting on the pads, grinding it out, and just playing the game.”
Kelce is eager to reunite with his teammates, including Patrick Mahomes and Coach Andy Reid, as well as Eric Bieniemy. “There’s a lot of pieces in Kansas City that I absolutely love, and I can’t wait to get back in the building with them,” he shared. The Chiefs are certainly poised for another exciting season with Kelce back in the fold.
