Travis Kelce made a major real estate move in Ohio before he married Taylor Swift, quietly closing on a $5.35 million mansion in March.
The Chiefs tight end bought the Cleveland-area property in Bratenahl, a village on Lake Erie near Cleveland Heights, where Kelce grew up. TMZ first reported the details, saying, “The Kansas City Chiefs tight end bought the Cleveland area estate March 2 for $5.35 million … and we’re told he was the only person who purchased the property.”
The timing has naturally sparked curiosity about whether Kelce wanted a family base back home. What’s clear is that the estate is no small getaway.
It sits on 3.5 acres, includes eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, and spans more than 21,000 square feet. The original house dates to 1895.
TMZ described a full-year restoration, noting, “The home recently underwent a yearlong transformation … with nearly every detail restored or replaced, including the original door hardware, intricate walnut and oak carvings, cut glass leaded windows and multiple fireplaces.”
The property had been marketed as a blend of Gilded Age style and modern luxury. The asking price was $5.99 million, and Kelce came in below that at $5.35 million. The Wall Street Journal and local records later confirmed the sale.
Inside, the old ballroom has been turned into a game room and theater, which feels fitting for a player who still likes to live large in the offseason. Kelce already owns a Kansas City mansion he bought for under $6 million in 2023.
The Ohio purchase came before his July 3 wedding to Swift at Madison Square Garden. The couple wed in front of about 1,000 guests at the arena, with Hollywood superstar Adam Sandler officiating, NFL legend Jason Kelce serving as best man, and Austin Swift as man of honor. The wedding bill later drew estimates between $20 million and $30 million.
Kelce later showed off the wedding ring at training camp, but he has not said the Ohio house is the couple’s main home, and there’s been no public indication that Swift co-owns it. TMZ reported that he bought it alone.
For now, the estate looks like a return-to-roots play more than anything else. Cleveland is close enough for family to gather, and local agents were thrilled with the deal. The Agency Cleveland said it felt thrilled for the new owners and excited for the city.
Figurati Construction had bought the house for $1.95 million in 2023 and restored it. The first list price was $6.99 million.
At 36 and heading into another Chiefs season, Kelce now has a lakefront landing spot near home. Swift still has homes elsewhere, and nothing public ties the Ohio estate to a full-time move.
