Travis Kelce’s off-field life has taken a turn into neighborly drama in Ohio, where the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Taylor Swift are facing pushback over landscaping plans at their $5.35 million mansion in Bratenahl, on the southern shore of Lake Erie.
According to a report from Anwesha Nag of BoredPanda, the couple has been turned away twice on plans to put up a six-foot-tall aluminum fence around the property and plant about 50 towering trees near the house. The fence appeal got unanimous approval last month, but residents still “pulled out all the stops” to fight the broader plan, with the pair being described by neighbors as “absentee owners.”
One neighbor made the case in especially practical terms, wondering what happens if 50 evergreen trees wind up on a sewer line and Kelce and Swift are nowhere around.
For Kelce, this is a far cry from the football-focused life he’s used to. In the offseason, he also became a minority owner of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers and was seen chugging a beer courtside at a Cavaliers playoff game earlier this year.
Now, though, he’s back in the middle of the NFL grind. The Chiefs are back on top, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes returned from knee surgery and playing well, and Kelce - at 36 - is showing his age but still doing enough to remain a problem for defenses.
Swift, meanwhile, may end up being the one left to handle the Ohio mess. She’s long been associated with a taste for privacy in scenic mansion settings, and the couple also owns a home in Rhode Island.

Chiefs 4-0 Start Just Set Up Their First Real Test
The Chiefs have opened with four straight wins and now get an early Week 5 bye, a rare breather in a season that has already demanded plenty from a team trying to stay atop the AFC. It also gives Kansas City a chance to reset before the schedule tightens again, with a stretch of games ahead that includes road trips to Seattle and Denver.
The first real checkpoint after the break comes at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chargers are set to visit on Sunday, Oct. 18. From there, the Chiefs are headed into a long run without another off week, so this pause may feel more like a brief pause in the middle of the grind than a true break. [Read more 🡒]
Chiefs Already Hold Early AFC West Control For One Big Reason
After four weeks, the NFLs unbeaten list is down to three familiar names, and Kansas City is still right in the middle of it. The 49ers and Vikings get their shots at 5-0 in Week 5, while the Chiefs are on a bye and will have to wait another week to try to join them, but their start has already put them in an enviable spot as the season settles in.
For Kansas City, the bigger point is how quickly it has created separation in the AFC West. The Chiefs have already banked division wins against the Broncos and Raiders, and those early results matter just as much as the clean record next to their name. With the Colts and Dolphins also in the win column, the Chiefs have given themselves a sturdy early foundation, even if the next real checkpoint is still waiting after the break. [Read more 🡒]
Xavier Worthy May Be Stepping Into A Much Bigger Chiefs Role
Xavier Worthys latest outing against the Raiders offered a glimpse of what Kansas City can lean on if it needs more from him. He caught four passes for 70 yards and helped drive the Chiefs victory with a handful of meaningful gains, the kind of production that can change the tone of an offense even in a game where other pass-catchers did more of the volume work.
The larger issue for Kansas City is where the receiver room goes from here, because the Chiefs may still look to add another wideout. Worthy is expected to see a bigger role in the offense moving forward, and the timing matters with the groups depth suddenly a real question, leaving his next step as one of the more important things to watch.
