Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have given fans a fresh mystery to chew on, and it comes with four legs and a fluffy white coat.
A photo from their July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden showed the newlyweds holding a small white dog, and that was all it took to send fans into detective mode. The picture, according to the Daily Mail, was part of a set of personal photos displayed in gold frames as guests arrived at the ceremony.
Other images in the display showed Swift and Kelce backstage during The Eras Tour and vacationing in Lake Como, Italy. But it was the dog that grabbed the spotlight.
The Daily Mail posted the image on Instagram on July 4, and fans quickly started speculating about what kind of dog it might be. Many thought the animal looked like a Samoyed, pointing to its thick coat and fox-like face. Swift and Kelce have not said the dog is theirs.
Still, some fans linked the wedding photo to an earlier report from March. At the time, a member of Swift’s security team was reportedly seen walking a Samoyed at an airport in Westchester County, New York. That sighting only added fuel to the theory.
If the dog does belong to the couple, it would be a notable shift for Swift, who has long been associated with cats. She owns Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button, and all three have shown up in her social media posts, music videos, and other projects over the years.
In her Netflix documentary Miss Americana, Swift joked about dogs. Her mother, Andrea Swift, owns a Great Dane named Kitty, and during the film Swift joked that traveling with the dog felt like flying with “a pony.”
Andrea said she had always wanted a large dog and got one while receiving treatment after her 2015 breast cancer diagnosis.
For now, the question remains unanswered. The wedding photo and the March airport sighting are the only clues fans have.
The speculation is unfolding as Swift and Kelce settle into their first days as newlyweds. People reported that Swift recently spent time in Montana with Jason and Kylie Kelce after the wedding. The couple also reportedly arrived at a Southern California airport on July 9 and are expected to attend JuJu Smith-Schuster’s wedding on July 11 before Kelce reports to Kansas City Chiefs training camp on July 28.
