Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding reportedly came with a price tag that pushes deep into celebrity excess.
The couple tied the knot last Friday in New York City, and what first sounded like a wildly expensive reservation at Madison Square Garden now looks like only the opening line on a much bigger bill. According to Esther Lee, editorial director at The Knot Worldwide, the total cost likely landed somewhere between $20 million and $30 million or more.
Speaking with Page Six, Lee said the floral arrangements and décor alone likely ran at least $5 million. “While the average American wedding sits at $34,000, according to The Knot Real Weddings Study, this production would’ve operated on a completely different scale,” Lee said. She also noted that turning Madison Square Garden into a wedding venue meant major custom draping, carpeting and décor across the arena.
The guest list added another massive layer to the expense, though attendees were reportedly bound by strict NDAs. Lee estimated catering for about 1,100 guests at between $2.5 million and $3 million. On top of that, she believes roughly $2 million went to the couple’s custom bridal attire, which was reportedly designed by Christian Dior.
The spending estimates come after reports that Madison Square Garden had been reserved exclusively for the ceremony.
And even after the wedding was over, the money trail kept going. Earlier this week, TMZ reported that items allegedly collected from outside the venue were already being sold online.
The listings reportedly included pieces of fabric, soda can tabs and even an AirPod said to have been found near the arena. One post even claimed to be selling a bag of air collected inside Madison Square Garden for nearly $50,000.
Whether any of those listings are real is unclear, but they underline just how intense the fascination around Swift and Kelce’s wedding has been.
