Taylor Swift may have a conflict on her hands before Travis Kelce even gets going in 2026.
The Chiefs open their season Monday night against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium, and there’s a real chance Swift won’t be in the building. The reason has nothing to do with her support for Kelce and everything to do with the fact that she picked up five Emmy nominations for her Eras Tour documentary, putting her on a collision course with the Emmy Awards ceremony, which is scheduled for the exact same time as Kansas City’s opener.
If Swift goes to the Emmys, she misses Kelce’s first game. That would make it another home date she has to skip because of outside commitments, but it would also be the first time she’d be attending a game as his wife, not just his girlfriend or fianceé.
There’s also another wrinkle around her football-season routine: according to longtime Hollywood insider and former celebrity publicist Rob Shuter, Swift is not planning to move to Kansas City to be closer to Kelce.
“Taylor Swift is not moving to Kansas City for a year. Not going to happen,” he said during his recent appearance on Maureen Callahan’s “The Nerve” podcast.
Shuter noted that Swift doesn’t have any concerts or events on the books right now, which means she could, in theory, spend as much time as she wants in Kansas City. But he said that isn’t the direction she’s choosing.
“So, she’s in New York. We’ve seen her in London,” he said.
“She has no concerts lined up. She could take her piano, she could take her guitar, and she could write a new album and call it the Kansas City album,” he continued.
“She could do that if she wanted to. She doesn’t want to,” he added.
That doesn’t mean Swift won’t be a familiar face at Chiefs games this season. It just means she’ll have to make the trip.
