Patrick Mahomes may spend his Sundays running Kansas City’s offense, but on Tuesday night he was doing something a little different: coaching his son Bronze through a rain-soaked baseball moment.
Brittany Mahomes shared the scene on social media, showing Patrick out on the field with Bronze as heavy rain came down around them. The two were getting set on defense when Patrick stepped in to help his son line up in the right spot. Brittany could be heard in the background yelling, “Go Bronze.”
Patrick was dressed in all black, wearing athletic shorts and a short-sleeved hoodie pulled low enough to shield his eyes from the rain. Bronze, meanwhile, was geared up in red and white team colors, carrying a baseball glove that looked nearly half his size. His jersey carried the number 15.
Brittany’s caption said it all: “Dad of the year right here! Playing with bronze in the pouring down rain.”
Patrick later reposted the clip to his Instagram story with two laughing emojis, clearly amused by the whole thing.
The moment came up again Wednesday morning at Patrick’s Chiefs news conference, where he was asked about being present for those family moments and what that means to him.
“I mean, it’s extremely important,” the father of three said. “I have those memories from my dad and him being around and being there, and my mom as well, of just being dad and mom, and being at the game and supporting me.”
Patrick added, “And so I want to be able to do that as much as I can. And obviously, it’s a lot in season.
I can do it a little bit better in the offseason. But whenever I do get the opportunity, I’m out there.”
He said he had even texted the coach earlier in the day to ask whether the game might be called off because of the weather. Once he learned it was still on, he decided to roll with it.
“We were out there, and it started raining. I’m like, we’re here now. Let’s just play and have some fun,” he said.
Patrick and Brittany also have two other children, 5-year-old Sterling and 1-year-old Golden, and the family is often visible on social media and around Arrowhead Stadium.
The baseball connection goes deeper than a fun rainy-night clip, though. Before becoming a three-time Super Bowl champion, Mahomes was a standout baseball player himself. He spent years chasing that sport and followed his father, Patrick Mahomes I, who played professional baseball for 22 seasons.
After high school, Mahomes was drafted by the Tigers, but he honored his commitment to Texas Tech instead. He split time between football and baseball through his freshman year and into his sophomore year before choosing football full-time.
That decision changed everything, eventually turning him into one of the NFL’s biggest stars and reshaping the Chiefs’ franchise.
Even so, Mahomes doesn’t sound eager to steer Bronze away from the diamond. He said Wednesday that his son enjoys being on the baseball field and that he is “excited for his future, and whatever he wants to do.”
The Chiefs are back on the field Sunday at 3:25 p.m. against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

Chiefs Could Catch A Big Break In This Raiders Matchup
The Raiders offensive line is suddenly worth watching as their unbeaten meeting with the Chiefs draws closer, with rookie right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson dealing with a groin injury he picked up in Week 3. Powers-Johnson, a 2024 second-round pick, has been part of a line the Raiders hoped would stabilize things up front, but his status now adds some uncertainty to a matchup that already carries plenty of AFC West weight.
If Powers-Johnson cant go, Caleb Rogers would be in line to step in after being taken in the third round of the 2025 draft. The Raiders also added Tyler Linderbaum as a key offseason piece along the offensive line, so Kansas City will be keeping an eye on whether Las Vegas can hold its front together in a game that matters early in the division race. Brittany Mahomes Just Shared A Family Tribute Fans Had Never Seen
Brittany Mahomes has never been shy about showing how much family means to her, but her latest post gave fans a closer look at a tribute with a very personal touch. The new ink includes the childrens names, their birthdates and facial profiles, along with Patrick Mahomes initials, a sign of just how much their home life has become part of the public story around Kansas City. Andy Reid Brings Extra Edge Into Chiefs Raiders Showdown In Vegas
Andy Reid walked into his press conference ahead of the Chiefs-Raiders matchup in Las Vegas with a little more context than usual, and it fit the moment. He was told he owns the most wins at Allegiant Stadium, a list that includes a Super Bowl victory, and now he gets another high-stakes visit as Kansas City and Las Vegas meet with both teams undefeated at 3-0. Reids history in the building is already lopsided, too, as he carries a 6-1 record at the Raiders home stadium.
For Reid, the setting only adds to a rivalry that already had plenty of juice. He said he is looking forward to the game and acknowledged the Raiders have improved, which makes this week feel a little different than a routine divisional trip. The Chiefs have been here before with Reid, and this time the backdrop is even sharper because a perfect start for both teams leaves little room for anyone to back into control of the AFC West race.
