Patrick Mahomes Revealed The Training Camp Routine He Cannot Break

Patrick Mahomes shares a glimpse into his off-field priorities by revealing a strict communication rule with wife Brittany during training camp.

Patrick Mahomes may spend training camp cut off from just about everybody, but there’s one person who still gets through.

At the Kansas City Chiefs’ annual camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, Mahomes keeps his focus narrow while the team lives in campus dormitories with thick walls and shaky phone service. The setup makes normal communication difficult, and with the grind of offseason work stacked into seven-hour-day training and rehab blocks, he basically disconnects from the outside world.

Except for Brittany.

Mahomes said he sticks to one non-negotiable rule while camp is underway: he has to text his wife. “St.

Joe’s dorm rooms, man, you don’t get a lot of text messages. I just try to make sure I text Brittany.

If I text Brittany, I’m usually in a good spot.”

That means friends, athletes and business associates can wait, but Brittany gets priority no matter how unreliable the service is.

It’s a small glimpse into the way Mahomes balances football and family, something that has only grown more complicated as his life has filled up with both a superstar NFL career and a busy household with Brittany. Since the Chiefs drafted him in 2017, he’s built one of the most decorated and dominant careers in league history. After spending his rookie season learning from the sideline, he took over as the full-time starter in 2018 and wasted no time turning the league on its head.

Now he’s working through the final stages of a major comeback, preparing to lead the Chiefs again just nine months after surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.

Brittany Mahomes Drew A Viral Reaction Chiefs Fans Will Notice

Brittany Mahomes has long been one of the more visible NFL spouses on social media, and her workout posts continue to travel well beyond the Chiefs orbit. This week, Kelly Stafford added to that buzz by reposting some of Mahomes fitness content on Instagram, punctuating it with playful remarks about Mahomes physique. The exchange was a reminder that both women have built sizable followings and have, over several NFL seasons, turned a public friendship into something fans across the league recognize.

For Chiefs fans, the timing is part of what makes it noteworthy. Staffords husband, Matthew Stafford, and Patrick Mahomes are set to meet when the Rams and Chiefs play at SoFi Stadium later this season, giving the off-field connection a little extra relevance. It is the kind of social-media moment that does not affect the standings, but still lands with a fan base that pays close attention to anything involving Mahomes, his family and the broader circle around the team. Patrick Mahomes Keeps One Training Camp Rule No Matter What

Training camp at Missouri Western State University always brings the same little inconvenience for Patrick Mahomes: the dorms make cell service spotty enough that a simple text can turn into a chore. Even so, the Chiefs quarterback sticks to one rule every day, making sure he reaches out to his wife Brittany no matter how unreliable the signal gets.

It is a small routine, but it says a lot about the rhythm Mahomes keeps even as camp ramps up around him. He is also working his way back toward the field after surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, which gives every part of his offseason, from rehab to the daily check-ins, a little more weight than usual. Chiefs Suddenly Have A Left Tackle Problem At The Worst Time

Josh Simmons has been sidelined for more than a week with a back injury, and the Chiefs are still in evaluation mode as they head into a game against the Seattle Seahawks. In the meantime, Kansas City is preparing to start Kahlil Benson at left tackle, a significant adjustment at one of the most important spots on the line.

The Chiefs also added some depth by acquiring Joshua Ezeudu in a trade with the New York Giants, but it is still unclear whether he will be ready to suit up right away. With a new starter at the position and another fresh face still working into the picture, the left side of the line has become a sudden issue for a team trying to keep its footing at a key point in the schedule.
