But there’s one exception he won’t bend on.
“St. Joe’s dorm rooms, man, you don’t get a lot of text messages.
I just try to make sure I text Brittany. If I text Brittany, I’m usually in a good spot.”
That’s the one communication line Mahomes keeps open while friends, athletes, and business associates wait on the other end. His wife gets priority, even when the signal barely does.
It’s another small window into how Mahomes balances football and family. Since being drafted by the Chiefs in 2017, he has built one of the most decorated and dominant careers in NFL history. He spent his rookie season in 2017 learning from the sideline as a backup, then took over as the full-time starter in 2018 and immediately changed the league’s temperature.
Now, while raising a busy family with Brittany, Mahomes is also pushing through the final stages of a major comeback. He is preparing to lead Kansas City back onto the field just nine months after surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.
