Patrick Mahomes is about to turn the page to football again, but before he gets to Missouri Western State University on July 24, he and Brittany Mahomes made time for a cause that matters deeply to their family.
The Chiefs quarterback and his wife showed up this week in Kansas City for a back-to-school event hosted through their 15 and the Mahomies foundation and FARE, Food Allergy Research & Education. They didn’t just make a quick appearance, either. Patrick, Brittany and their son Bronze spent time with families and joined in the activities.
“Families living with food allergies were provided practical resources, education, and support,” his foundation and FARE wrote on Instagram. “The annual event aims to expand food allergy education and resources across the Kansas City community. “Highlights included… Top 9 allergen-free school lunch demonstration, Ask-the-Expert panel, A Kids’ Fun Zone, Health resources for families navigating food allergy, Kids received an adidas backpack; t-shirt and snack bag.”
For the Mahomes family, the issue is personal. Both Sterling and Bronze have dealt with food allergies, and the source material points to a scary moment when Bronze had a severe reaction to peanut powder as an infant that sent him to the emergency room. That’s part of why the family has kept showing up for this cause.
The event also came during a whirlwind offseason for Patrick. In June, he signed a record $500 million-plus contract extension, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history. At the same time, he’s been working back from the torn ACL and LCL that ended his 2025 season, with earlier reports showing him throwing again about 100 days after surgery as he pushes toward a Week 1 return.
Even with rehab and family obligations filling the calendar, Mahomes has still made room for some major moments this summer, including attending Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding and skipping at least one teammate’s celebration to stay locked in on his recovery and business interests, including the couple’s growing stake in the Kansas City Current.
FARE says roughly one in 13 children in the U.S. lives with a food allergy, which helps explain why the Mahomes family’s involvement lands so strongly in Kansas City.
Now the focus shifts back to camp, with Mahomes set to report on July 24 and the countdown to Week 1 officially underway.
