Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was the victim of a home invasion at his residence on Saturday, according to a statement from the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident reportedly happened around 5 a.m. Barkley, whose net worth is listed at around $30 million by Celebrity Net Worth, was not hurt, and neither was his family. Authorities said they are still trying to identify the people involved.
“The Chester County District Attorney's Office is aware of a home invasion that occured at the residence of NFL Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, in Tredyffrin Township earlier this morning,” the statement read.
“We are incredibly grateful that the Barkley family was not injureed during this incident. We are asking the public to help us identify those responsible by checking any home security cameras for suspicious activity in the area around 5 a.m. ,,, This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Chester County Detectives are assisting Tredyffrin Township Police Department as the investigation continues.”
Police also released a photo of a white SUV that may have been connected to the burglary attempt. Capt. Tyler Moyer said investigators believe more than one vehicle was involved.
“We know there's more than one, but we're still trying to determine how many were involved,” Capt. Tyler Moyer said as per NBC Philadelphia.
Barkley’s path to this point has been a long one. The Giants selected him with the No. 2 pick in 2018, and he spent six seasons there, rushing for 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns. New York reached the playoffs only once during that stretch, in 2022, when it lost to the Eagles in the divisional round.
In 2023, the Giants used the non-exclusive franchise tag on Barkley. He signed it after receiving an adjusted $2 million signing bonus, plus additional incentives.
Barkley then landed with Philadelphia in 2024 on a three-year, $37.75 million contract and delivered a huge season, rushing for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns. That made him the ninth running back in NFL history to top 2,000 rushing yards in a season.
He helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX and later agreed to a two-year, $41.2 million extension.
Last season, Barkley rushed for 1,140 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games. Philadelphia finished 11-6 and then lost to the 49ers in the wild-card round.
