Arizona Cardinals cornerback Kei’Trel Clark says the NFL hit him with a $6,651 fine after he wrote “Glory Be 2 God” on his eyeblack during Arizona’s Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Clark shared the news on social media this week and followed it with a simple reaction: “I need answers”
The league’s letter told him, “During the Arizona Cardinals-Los Angeles Chargers game on September 13, 2026, you were in violation of the NFL Uniform and Equipment Rules,” and added that he had displayed a personal message on his eye black. The NFL also cited the rule language barring players from wearing or displaying personal messages unless they have been approved in advance by the league office.
The letter went on to say, “NFL policy on uniforms and equipment and the 'On Field' program is disseminated to players through playbook inserts, locker-room posters, and training-camp videos. In accordance with the document entitled '2026 GAME-RELATED DISCIPLINE', which was among the playbook materials distributed to you earlier this season, the League is imposing on you a fine of $6,651. Please be advised that the minimum fine for a first offense has been reduced by application of Appendix U of the CBA.”
Clark later posted, “I got to report to God at the end of my days on the day of judgement! I'll always give God the Glory and out loud. All good.”
This is not the first time he has been fined for a small uniform issue. Last season, Clark was fined nearly $6,000 for wearing a streaming black towel when Arizona was in its road white uniforms.
He also drew a $5,797 fine from the NFL for wearing an unapproved black towel during a game against the Colts.
Against the Chargers, Clark was on the field for nine defensive snaps and also played four snaps on special teams.
If Garrett Williams is again unable to play because of injury, Clark could be back in the mix when the Cardinals host the Seattle Seahawks at State Farm Stadium in their home opener.
