Mahomes has already beaten the 49ers five times, including two Super Bowl wins. The first delivered the Chiefs their first championship in 50 years, and four years later he helped push Kansas City into dynasty territory by leading the first back-to-back Super Bowl champion in roughly 20 years.
The regular-season tape is memorable too, from Mahomes running over a 49ers safety to another scramble in San Francisco that kept getting replayed the next week. Against the 49ers, he has averaged 302 passing yards with 10 touchdown passes and six interceptions.
Miami is up first on the 2026 slate, with the Chiefs heading to South Florida in Week 3 for their first road game of the year. Mahomes is 3-0 against the Dolphins and has seen them in three different settings: once in Miami, once in Germany, and once at Arrowhead in a frigid playoff game.
That playoff win leaned on Mahomes’ legs and his chemistry with Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce, and his cracked helmet in the freezing air became one of the game’s defining images. In the 2020 game in Miami, he hit a deep touchdown and another scoring throw while rolling to his right.
Overall, he has averaged 280 passing yards against the Dolphins with five touchdown passes and three interceptions, all three picks coming in that 2020 meeting.
The Jets get their turn in Week 9 when they visit Kansas City, and Mahomes is 2-0 against New York. The two games looked nothing alike.
In 2020, the Chiefs rolled to a 35-9 win at Arrowhead. In 2023, they had to survive a far tighter 23-20 game at MetLife Stadium.
Mahomes helped close that one out with his legs, and in the 2020 meeting he threw five touchdown passes, four of them on throws that traveled at least 26 yards. Tyreek Hill caught two of those scores.
Mahomes has averaged 309.5 passing yards against the Jets, with six touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Atlanta comes the week after the Jets, when the Chiefs travel to face the Falcons in mid-November. Mahomes is also 2-0 there, though neither game was especially tidy for Kansas City.
One win came by five points, the other by three. In 2020, he pulled out a comeback with a late touchdown to Demarcus Robinson with just under two minutes left.
In 2024, Rashee Rice delivered a big day with 110 receiving yards and a touchdown. Mahomes has averaged 247.5 passing yards against Atlanta, with four touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Arizona is next, with the Cardinals set to visit Kansas City in Week 11, just before Thanksgiving. Mahomes is 2-0 against them as well, and both wins came with some real fireworks.
In 2018, he set a new Chiefs franchise single-season record for passing touchdowns against Arizona, a year that ended with him throwing 50 touchdown passes. Then in Week 1 of the 2022 season, Kansas City opened with a 44-point outburst against the Cardinals.
Mahomes had just nine incompletions and threw five touchdown passes, with Travis Kelce, Jody Fortson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Mecole Hardman all getting into the end zone.
