Patrick Mahomes keeps adding to a postseason-looking résumé in the regular season, and Sunday night gave him another line that stands out all by itself.
With Kansas City’s 33-30 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, Mahomes moved to 10-2 in overtime for his career. According to the Chiefs, that is the best overtime record in NFL history for quarterbacks with at least 10 overtime starts.
Take the playoffs out of the picture, and the number gets even cleaner: Mahomes is 8-0 in regular-season overtime games, the most wins without a loss by any quarterback in NFL history.
This one took some real late-game execution from Kansas City.
The Chiefs got the first possession in overtime and immediately found themselves in a tough spot, staring at third-and-12 from their own 30-yard line. Mahomes answered with a 30-yard strike to Tyquan Thornton, a play that kept the drive moving and set up a Harrison Butker field goal.
Indianapolis matched it with a field goal, forcing Kansas City back onto the field with the game still there to be won.
Mahomes and the Chiefs closed it out from there. On third-and-1 from the Indianapolis 46, Mahomes hit Kenneth Walker III on a short pass, and Walker turned it into a 22-yard gain to push Kansas City deep into Colts territory. Butker then drilled a 40-yard field goal on the final play to end it.
Mahomes also stacked another major individual stat line onto the ledger. The performance marked his 19th career game with at least 350 passing yards and three touchdown passes, which is seven more than any other quarterback since 2018.
And he wasn’t carrying the load alone.
Walker finished with 178 yards from scrimmage, Travis Kelce caught nine passes for 101 yards and a touchdown, and Thornton added four receptions for 86 yards, highlighted by that crucial 30-yard catch in overtime.
