In a move that might leave Ravens fans pondering what could have been, Hollywood Brown has opted to join the Philadelphia Eagles, bypassing a potential return to Baltimore. Brown, who had a notable stint with the Chiefs last season, shared on the Speakeasy podcast that he seriously considered reuniting with the Ravens.
“I was really considering going back to Baltimore,” Brown admitted. “I have good relationships there.
I let my agent handle most of it until it got serious. This being my second time in free agency, I wanted to avoid the small talk.
Once it came down to who truly wanted me, I got involved.”
Drafted by the Ravens in the first round back in 2019, Brown has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his career. Last season with the Chiefs, he posted solid numbers, recording 49 catches for 587 yards and five touchdowns over 16 games. Despite a limited two-game season in 2024, his 2023 performance with the Cardinals was promising, with 574 yards on 51 catches.
While Brown isn’t necessarily a top-tier wide receiver, the Ravens already have Zay Flowers filling that role. What Baltimore could use, however, is a reliable secondary target to alleviate some of the pressure on Rashod Bateman. Brown could have fit that bill perfectly.
Now with Brown heading to Philadelphia, the Ravens are left to explore other options. They haven’t made any wide receiver signings in free agency yet, but with the draft approaching, Baltimore might find the addition they need to bolster their receiving corps.
