Tyreek Hill remains one of the biggest names sitting on the NFL market, and the Atlanta Falcons are suddenly being pushed into the center of the conversation.
Hill is still a free agent, still working back from the torn ACL he suffered on September 29, and still not cleared for full football activity. That hasn’t stopped teams from being linked to him, though, and CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell made a strong case that Atlanta should be among the first to jump in once Hill is ready.
The appeal starts with the quarterback situation. Tua Tagovailoa, now with the Falcons after Miami moved on from him this offseason, and Hill already built one of the league’s most dangerous passing connections in Miami.
In 2023, Tagovailoa threw for 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns and earned Pro Bowl honors. Hill accounted for 1,799 of those receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, and he also made the Pro Bowl.
Hill became the first player in NFL history to post multiple 1,700-yard receiving seasons, with Tagovailoa’s deep ball driving both of those explosions.
Podell pointed to that history as a major reason Atlanta makes sense. “Hill could easily leapfrog Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus to be WR2 for the Atlanta Falcons behind only Drake London,” Podell wrote.
“He also became the first player in NFL history with multiple 1,700-yard receiving seasons after his first two seasons catching passes from Tua Tagovailoa in 2022 and 2023, and Tagovailoa is now in Atlanta. Even if Michael Penix Jr. ends up starting the vast majority of the games, Hill has plenty of reps banked catching passes from a left-handed quarterback, thanks to his four seasons in Miami with Tagovailoa.”
That left-handed familiarity matters whether Penix Jr. or Tagovailoa ends up handling most of the snaps. Podell also noted Hill’s experience with a left-handed quarterback as part of the fit in Atlanta.
The Falcons weren’t the only team on Podell’s list. He also named the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, and a possible return to the Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City, where Hill started his career, continues to be the most commonly mentioned landing spot, and Hill has never been shy about his affection for the organization.
The expectation around the league is that any new deal for Hill would likely be short term. Philadelphia had also been floated earlier this summer in prediction markets, with Polymarket users giving the Eagles 34% as his most likely destination before Atlanta started gaining more traction.
After Miami released him in February and saved $22.8 million in cap space, Hill posted a message that made clear he expects to play again. “The Cheetah don’t slow down.

The Cheetah will be back… Born Again.”
For Atlanta, the fit is obvious enough: receiver was already viewed as a need, and Hill would fill it with a quarterback connection no other free agent can match.
