Darron Lee Consulted AI Before Making Stunning Call to Police

Ex-NFL player's use of AI in alleged murder case raises troubling questions about technology's role in crime.

Kansas City Chiefs: Former Linebacker Darron Lee's Legal Troubles

In a shocking turn of events, former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Darron Lee finds himself embroiled in a serious legal battle. Lee, who played 16 games for the Chiefs back in 2019, is facing grave charges in Hamilton County, Tennessee. He has been accused of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence following the tragic death of his girlfriend, Gabriella Perpetuo.

According to reports, Lee allegedly turned to ChatGPT, an AI language model, seeking advice just a day before contacting first responders. The Hamilton County District Attorney, Coty Wamp, revealed that Lee was using the AI as a “legal advisor,” purportedly asking for guidance on how to cover up a crime scene.

Court proceedings in Chattanooga have unveiled some of Lee's messages, painting a troubling picture. In one message, Lee expressed confusion and distress, stating, “Don’t know what to do right now, fiancee did her crazy thing again and now she’s messed up... she isn’t waking up or responding, what do I do?” He further inquired about handling a non-responsive person and whether to involve the police.

Body camera footage presented in court captured Lee explaining to a deputy that Perpetuo might have fallen in the shower. He claimed to have found her unresponsive on the couch after a nap, prompting his 911 call.

The details surrounding Perpetuo’s death are particularly harrowing. Reports indicate she suffered a broken neck, severe brain injury, and stab wounds. The judge overseeing the case characterized her death as “especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel,” suggesting it involved torture or excessive physical abuse.

As the legal proceedings continue, the case raises complex questions about the use of AI in legal matters and the tragic circumstances surrounding Perpetuo’s death.
