The Chiefs are sitting at 4-0 entering their Week 5 bye, but the message here is pretty clear: the wide receiver room still needs help.
Kansas City has gotten strong play from Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, and Kenneth Walker has been arguably the NFL’s best running back through four games this year. Even so, the receiver group remains the spot that could keep this offense from looking complete when the games get bigger.
Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy have shown potential, but that hasn’t changed the bigger picture. The depth behind them still looks thin, and that’s why ESPN’s Dan Graziano is pushing the Chiefs to look beyond any Tyreek Hill reunion talk and explore a trade.
“I’m not buying that Tyreek Hill is much of an upgrade over what they have at this point in his career,” Graziano writes. “If players such as Marvin Harrison Jr., Brian Thomas Jr., Jerry Jeudy, or Calvin Ridley become available, the Chiefs should poke around.”
Hill has been strongly linked to Kansas City since the Tyquan Thornton injury, and a return feels possible. But Graziano’s point is that signing Hill, if it happens, shouldn’t be the end of the conversation.
There’s also uncertainty around what Hill would look like now. His serious injury last year could have changed his speed and effectiveness, which is why the Chiefs may need to treat him as only part of the answer, not the whole solution.
If Kansas City wants to position itself for another Super Bowl run, the logic is simple: add more receiver talent, whether that means a bigger swing for someone like Harrison or Thomas, or a more modest move for Jeudy or Ridley. Either way, the Chiefs’ current setup could use another jolt.

Maxx Crosby Just Took The Mahomes Rivalry Somewhere Personal
Maxx Crosby has never been shy about the edge that comes with facing Patrick Mahomes, and his latest comments on The Rush add another layer to one of the AFC Wests most familiar feuds. The Raiders pass rusher talked about the in-game back-and-forth with Kansas Citys quarterback, describing the kind of physical, play-to-play friction that has made every meeting feel a little bigger than the box score.
Crosby said Mahomes reacts in ways most fans never hear or see, and he pointed to the way the quarterback has responded after hits as part of their ongoing rivalry. For Kansas City, it is simply the latest reminder that Mahomes remains the standard every opponent circles, while Crosby keeps finding ways to be a problem whenever these teams line up across from each other. Brittany Mahomes Added More Postgame Buzz To Chiefs' Undefeated Start
The Chiefs kept their unbeaten start rolling with a 30-27 win over the Raiders, and the usual postgame chatter came with an extra layer of intrigue. Patrick Mahomes threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, while Kenneth Walker powered the ground game with 177 rushing yards and two scores, helping Kansas City move to 4-0 in a tight AFC West race.
Las Vegas had its own reasons to believe after falling to 3-1, even if coach Klint Kubiak said the offense still needs to sharpen up. Patrick Mahomes also made a point of crediting the Raiders' defense afterward, which only added to the buzz around a game that already had plenty of edge, and Brittany Mahomes helped keep the conversation going after the final whistle. Chiefs Suddenly Have A Trade Question Fans Werent Expecting
The trade market around the NFL is already starting to take shape, and one of the more interesting ripple effects for Kansas City comes from Detroits defensive problems. ESPNs Jeremy Fowler pointed to the Lions as a team that may need to upgrade its secondary, a sign that the market for cornerbacks and other defensive help could heat up quickly as the deadline approaches.
Kristian Fulton is one name Fowler floated, with Jalen Ramsey also mentioned as a possibility, and the urgency is obvious given that Detroit has been the leagues worst defense this season. The Lions are allowing 423.8 yards per game, but whether they actually pull the trigger on a deal before the deadline remains unclear, which is exactly the kind of uncertainty that can reshape who is available for teams watching the market closely.
