Football is back at Arrowhead, and the Chiefs are set to open the season against the Broncos in a Monday Night Football spotlight. For fans headed to the stadium, the day starts early and runs right up to kickoff at 7:15 p.m.
Parking gates open at 3 p.m., and the Ford Tailgate District follows at 3:30 p.m. Club-level guests can enter at 5 p.m., while all stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Team warm-ups begin at 6:15 p.m., followed by the Broncos’ introduction at 7:04 p.m. and the Chiefs’ at 7:06 p.m. The National Anthem is scheduled for 7:11 p.m., with the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber flyover at 7:12 p.m., the coin toss at 7:13 p.m., and kickoff three minutes later.
Fans are being urged to have their tickets loaded into a mobile wallet for quicker entry. Parking also requires advance digital passes, since toll booths do not accept cash.
Tickets and passes can be downloaded on the Chiefs mobile app. Traffic is expected to be heavy on Interstates 435 and 70, along with surrounding streets, thanks to the overlap of stadium traffic and Monday evening rush hour.
The Ford Tailgate District, set in Lot M, is a free pregame space with food, drinks, tailgating games and live entertainment. Crossroad Sound and DJ Lazer, with emcee Spencer Davis, are scheduled to provide music. The area will also feature the Chiefs Rumble, Chiefs Cheerleaders and a Chiefs Legend appearance from 2025 Chiefs Hall of Honor inductee Bill Maas.
Alex Smith will serve as the Chiefs Drum honoree and bang the drum Monday. Smith was the Chiefs’ starting quarterback from 2013-17 and made three Pro Bowls, while also helping shape Patrick Mahomes’ development.
The Lamar Hunt Legacy Seat honoree is Andrew Armstrong, a middle school history teacher and football coach in the Oklahoma City metro area. Armstrong has spent 25 years teaching and coaching and has been a Chiefs season ticket holder for the last five seasons. The two golden seats sit in section 121 of the lower bowl under Lamar Hunt’s name in the team’s Ring of Honor.
Before the anthem, there will be a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in 9/11. Retired Navy Petty Officer First Class Generald Wilson will sing the anthem, and the flyover will come from a B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber flying out of Whiteman Air Force Base, south of Knob Noster, Missouri.
Arrowhead will also be operating cashless. Concession stands and retail points of sale will not take cash, with fans able to pay by debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google pay or Samsung Pay. In-stadium hawkers and vendors will accept credit cards only.
Tickets are available through the Chiefs’ website or third-party sites such as SeatGeek and StubHub, with the cheapest seats currently around $130 in the 300 level.
Weather should cooperate. FOX4’s forecast calls for a warm, dry Monday, with a high of 94 degrees and a low of 77.
