Arrowhead Stadium’s parking setup has a little more structure than some Chiefs fans may realize, especially for the first half-hour after the lots open.
The team says the parking lot opens 4 1/2 hours before kickoff - that means 2:50 p.m. for a 7:20 p.m. game, 7:30 a.m. for a noon kickoff and 11:30 a.m. for a 3 p.m. start. During that first 30 minutes, the stadium uses an “open park” period, giving early arrivals a shot at choosing from available spots before attendants begin directing traffic more tightly.
That rule has been on the books for several seasons, even though it recently got a new spotlight on the Chiefs’ parking website. A team representative confirmed the system is not new.
For that opening window, Lots C, D, F, G and approved grass parking are available on a first-come, first-served basis. After those 30 minutes are up, parking attendants take over and guide cars into assigned spots based on their parking pass.
For Monday’s season opener against the Denver Broncos, gates open at 2:45 p.m., and fans arriving between then and 3:15 p.m. will get the chance to pick their parking spot.
Fans can still line up before the lot officially opens on game day.
The rest of Arrowhead’s parking rules remain unchanged. Only one vehicle is allowed per parking space, and access to the Truman Sports Complex is limited to fans with game tickets. Team staff can check tickets at any time.
Guests also can’t remain in the parking lots or outside the stadium once the game starts. At that point, fans must go inside or leave the area.
Tailgating is still allowed, with grills, food and beverages permitted in the lot, but nothing can be brought into the stadium. The stadium also bans offensive signs, banners and other displays, including the Confederate Flag. Tailgate space is capped at eight feet behind each parking space.
Parking passes are priced at $57.25 per game and are available through Ticketmaster. For larger groups using a bus or RV, passes cost $151.20 per night, with entry through Gate 1 at Blue Ridge Cutoff or Gate 7 at Stadium Drive.
Gold parking passes are $189 and place guests near the front of Lots B, C, D, F, G and part of Lot H.
Bus parking is on the north side of Dubiner Circle, and bus passes must be purchased online.
For rideshare drop-offs, Arrowhead has designated areas for Uber, Lyft, Z-Trip, IRIS and similar services at the Missouri Welcome Center between Gates J and 2 on Blue Ridge Cutoff.
