The Raiders may have to get through Chris Jones without one of their regular blockers in the middle.
Las Vegas heads into its Week 4 meeting with the Chiefs carrying a real concern on the offensive interior, and Jackson Powers-Johnson is the name to watch. The Raiders’ second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has been starting at right guard, but a groin injury in Week 3 forced him out for the final series. He also missed the team’s first practice of the week, putting his status in doubt ahead of Sunday afternoon’s matchup.
That matters because Kansas City still runs everything through one of the league’s most disruptive interior forces. Jones has long been a problem in the middle, and the Chiefs will bring that same pressure into a game that carries far more weight than expected between unbeaten teams fighting for AFC West control. The Raiders have not been this relevant in a while, and a win would make everyone in the division take a longer look at the standings.
Las Vegas does have some help on the interior after adding former Baltimore Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum this offseason. That move gave the line a stronger center of gravity, and the unit has played better than many expected. Still, losing a starter anywhere up front changes the picture, and Powers-Johnson’s absence would take away a physical presence the Raiders have counted on.
If he can’t play, Caleb Rogers would be the next man up. The Raiders used Rogers in that role before, including when Powers-Johnson was on injured reserve with an ankle issue.
Rogers was also the third-round pick in 2025, though he lost the job battle in camp. Some around the team may not mind the switch, either, considering Powers-Johnson has already allowed 7 pressures of Kirk Cousins this season.
Even with the Raiders looking like a tougher version of what the Chiefs have seen in recent years, the details matter in a game like this. The biggest one right now is whether Las Vegas can line up at full strength against Jones, Peter Woods, and the rest of Kansas City’s interior rush.

Andy Reid Brings Extra Edge Into Chiefs Raiders Showdown In Vegas
Andy Reid walked into his press conference ahead of the Chiefs-Raiders matchup in Las Vegas with a little more context than usual, and it fit the moment. He was told he owns the most wins at Allegiant Stadium, a list that includes a Super Bowl victory, and now he gets another high-stakes visit as Kansas City and Las Vegas meet with both teams undefeated at 3-0. Reids history in the building is already lopsided, too, as he carries a 6-1 record at the Raiders home stadium.
For Reid, the setting only adds to a rivalry that already had plenty of juice. He said he is looking forward to the game and acknowledged the Raiders have improved, which makes this week feel a little different than a routine divisional trip. The Chiefs have been here before with Reid, and this time the backdrop is even sharper because a perfect start for both teams leaves little room for anyone to back into control of the AFC West race. Chiefs Look Dangerous Again For One Reason Fans Cant Ignore
Kansas Citys 3-0 start has put the Chiefs right back in the familiar place they spent so many recent seasons, but this one feels a little different from the version that missed the playoffs a year ago. The offense looks more balanced, the ball is coming out in a way thats helping keep defenses guessing, and Patrick Mahomes is operating with his best EPA per dropback since his second MVP season.
Much of that shift has traced back to Kenneth Walker III, the leagues leading rusher, whose presence has changed the way this attack functions. With fewer deep shots and lower air yards per attempt, the Chiefs have been able to lean into a more controlled style without losing explosiveness, and that mix is exactly why the rest of the league has reason to pay attention.
