Caitlin Clark Just Gave Chiefs Fans Another Reason To Love Her

WNBA star Caitlin Clark finds herself in a delicate balancing act as she navigates fan loyalties between her home team, the Indiana Fever, and her allegiance to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Caitlin Clark says she had a split-second worry about how Kansas City Chiefs fans would react when she showed up at an Indianapolis Colts game in 2025 and was handed a jersey.

Speaking on Kylie Kelce’s podcast, Clark walked through the moment and admitted she was uneasy about the optics. Clark is a Chiefs fan, even though she plays for the Indiana Fever, and her Colts appearance put that allegiance under the spotlight. The jersey came out, but Clark somehow kept it off.

That decision mattered to Kelce, who said it “really struck a chord” seeing Clark at the Colts game. Kelce also said Clark does “have to support the hometown team,” though her Indianapolis ties do not outweigh her Chiefs loyalty.

Clark said she wasn’t trying to avoid upsetting Travis Kelce or the Chiefs crowd in the moment. It was more instinct than strategy. Still, she ended up being the only one among her teammates not to wear the jersey, and she still has it.

“Honestly, in real time I wasn’t thinking I’m not gonna put this on because I don’t want, like, the Chiefs fans or Travis mad or whatever, but after the fact, I didn’t realize that all my teammates had it on, so that made me look worse,” Clark explained.

Clark has since been back around the Chiefs in a much different setting. She was recently at Arrowhead Stadium with Taylor Swift for Kansas City’s Week 6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

That wasn’t their first game together, either. Clark also attended the Chiefs’ AFC Divisional Round game against the Houston Texans in January 2025 with Swift, and later returned to Arrowhead for Kansas City’s game against the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs are 0-2 since Clark last attended a game. Their next stretch starts at home against the New York Jets in Week 9, followed by games against the Atlanta Falcons and the Arizona Cardinals.

Chiefs Revisit Familiar Receiver As Depth Battle Suddenly Opens

The Chiefs used a busy workout day to take a fresh look at depth across the roster, bringing in nine players for tryouts and ultimately adding wide receiver Jacob de Jesus to the practice squad. De Jesus is a familiar name around the building, having previously signed with Kansas City after going undrafted in 2026, and he arrives with a notable college rsum after leading the nation in receptions in 2025.

The tryout group also included several other wide receivers, defensive backs and a defensive tackle, but no other immediate moves were announced. For a team always trying to stay ahead of injuries and churn at the bottom of the roster, the timing matters, especially with the receiver room and a few other spots suddenly offering a clearer path to opportunity. Chiefs Are Chasing A Turnaround History Says Shouldnt Happen

Kansas Citys early start has put a familiar question back on the table: how much can a team rebound from a bad year when the core remains largely intact? After a 6-11 season in 2025 that was derailed in part by Patrick Mahomes injury, the Chiefs have opened this season 5-2 while trying to rebuild around their established quarterback instead of resetting the most important spot on the roster.

The historical backdrop is not especially forgiving. Only a handful of NFL teams have ever followed a season with six or fewer wins by going on to win the Super Bowl the next year, and those turnarounds came with a major change under center. Kansas City is trying to chase that kind of leap without making that kind of switch, which is exactly what makes this start worth watching. [Read more 🡒]

Rashee Rices Off-Field Trouble Just Raised A New Chiefs Question

Rashee Rices off-field situation has become another unwelcome subplot for the Chiefs, with the wide receiver now dealing with the financial fallout from the March 2024 crash that already led to felony pleas and a 30-day jail term. The latest filing shows how far the case has reached beyond the courtroom, with civil claims and related obligations piling up as Kansas City tries to keep one of its young pass catchers from becoming defined by everything happening away from the field.

The bankruptcy filing adds a new layer to a story the Chiefs would rather leave in the past, especially with Rice still carrying the burden of a 2025 civil settlement and reported wage garnishment. Even the list of assets in the case underscores how tangled things have become, and it leaves Kansas City facing yet another reminder that Rices future with the team is being shaped by more than football.
