Trevor Lawrence looked like the best version of himself on Friday, and that was the headline from Day 3 of Jaguars training camp.
After a slow opening day, Lawrence has now stacked two straight practices that looked much closer to the quarterback the Jaguars have seen throughout the offseason program. Friday was the sharpest of the bunch. He was making confident decisions, fitting throws into tight windows, and generally putting the offense on his back.
The red-zone work was where Lawrence really separated himself. He threw touchdown passes to Jakobi Meyers, Bhayshul Tuten, Brian Thomas Jr. twice, and Parker Washington.
The Meyers score came against tight coverage from Jabbar Muhammad, and it was one of the throws that stood out most. Meyers also had his best day of camp.
That kind of day helped swing the practice toward the offense. The defense had the edge on Day 1, the second day felt more even, but Friday belonged to Lawrence and the unit around him.
The other big story was Travon Walker, who has opened camp on a tear. He was already a standout on Thursday, and Friday may have been even better. No matter where he lined up, Walker seemed to be wrecking plays and forcing the Jaguars off schedule against both the run and the pass.
By my count, Walker finished with two sacks, a tackle for loss, and a pass breakup. One sack and the breakup came during the two-minute drills late in practice, which made those plays even more notable. He is trending up quickly, and that lines up with the expectation coming into camp since he is at 100% health.
Walker is the player I’ll be watching most during joint practices. If he keeps looking this dominant against another team’s starters, the buzz around him is only going to grow.
Jarrian Jones also put together a huge day. He has long been one of the Jaguars’ better camp performers, and he’s carried that over into the regular season in each of the last two years. Through three days, though, this might be his best start yet.
Jones opened with two pass breakups on Thursday, then followed that with a monster Friday: two interceptions and two more pass breakups. One of those picks came against a hot Lawrence in the red-zone, and it was a great read and an athletic finish. He jumped Parker Washington’s route and dove to secure the interception.
Jones is in the middle of a crowded secondary battle with Jourdan Lewis, Montaric Brown, and Travis Hunter, but a practice like this makes it hard to keep him off the field. He should only get better once the pads come on, too, after the growth he’s shown over the last two seasons.
The linebacker competition is starting to get interesting as well. Entering the offseason program, Ventrell Miller looked like the favorite to take over the starting job left open by Devin Lloyd. Then Branson Combs made a strong push in the offseason, and the Jaguars seemed very invested in the second-year undrafted free agent.
Through three days of camp, Combs may have the edge.
He picked off Nick Mullens in 7-on-7 on Friday, climbing the ladder for a red-zone interception after already being around the ball throughout the stretch in coverage. Miller also intercepted Mullens in 7-on-7 on Thursday, but the Jaguars have made a point of highlighting Combs’ coverage ability. That could be what tilts the battle in his favor.
Combs was always going to get plenty of reps while he and Miller sort out the linebacker job, but right now he has the slight lead based on what has shown up on the field. That could change over the next few weeks, but for now, he’s making a real case.

The Jaguars are still looking for ways to shore up a wide receiver room that could use more proven depth, and a recent visit from free agent Zay Flowers fits that search. Liam Coen confirmed the team hosted him, saying it was a chance to get him in and see what he looks like, with the added comfort that he already knows Trevor and knows Jacksonville.
Flowers brings a familiar name and some useful experience, but the interest comes with obvious caution. He missed the end of the 2025 season with an Achilles injury and has appeared in only 19 combined games over the last two seasons, so any move would be about balancing upside with availability as the Jaguars weigh whether he can help stabilize the group behind their top options. Jaguars Camp Sleepers Are Suddenly Crashing Two Key Roster Battles
Training camp has a way of sorting out the roster picture quickly, and this one has already put a few young Jaguars squarely into the conversation. Rookie defensive end Zach Durfee has flashed in team drills, undrafted cornerback Devon Marshall has made his presence felt in coverage, and wideouts Josh Cameron and CJ Williams have both turned in encouraging practice stretches as Jacksonville keeps evaluating the bottom half of the roster.
The intrigue now is whether those early reps will keep stacking up enough to make the decisions harder for the coaching staff. Durfee has been around the football in a way that gets noticed, Marshall is showing he belongs in the mix, and Williams has drawn especially strong notice from Liam Coen for how quickly he has taken to the offense. Cameron has also shown enough in recent work to stay on the radar, which is exactly the kind of camp development that can turn a quiet competition into a real problem for the front office. Bhayshul Tuten Just Sent A Message In Jaguars Camp
Bhayshul Tuten wasted little time making his case when Jaguars training camp opened, working with the first team and drawing plenty of attention from observers on day one. With Travis Etienne gone, Tuten entered camp as the presumed lead back, and the early usage suggested the Jaguars are at least willing to see what he can do with the offense around him.
The backfield still has some moving parts, though, with LeQuint Allen in the mix and Chris Rodriguez working back after offseason foot surgery. Jacksonville also appears headed toward a committee approach, so Tutens strong start may have sent a message, but it did not settle the pecking order just yet. [Read more 🡒]
