Trevor Lawrence Gets A Huge Chance To Flip Jaguars-Eagles Script

The Jacksonville Jaguars look to capitalize on Trevor Lawrence's explosive form and the Eagles' vulnerabilities in their much-anticipated London showdown.

The Jaguars have a chance to keep climbing to 4-1, but the opponent in front of them has been a problem in recent years. Philadelphia has beaten Jacksonville on the road in 2022 and 2024, though Trevor Lawrence made it clear Wednesday that he isn’t dwelling on the past.

“I know that just because you think about-when you're playing an opponent, you naturally just think about the prior games that you've played against them," Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said Wednesday.

"So yeah, I've thought about that I haven’t beat these guys, and they've had some really good teams and we've had some close ones that we've lost. So just excited for another opportunity, because it's the next game though, not because of all that.

Like I said last week, I'm like a broken record with you guys. You prepare every week to go win the game regardless of who it is.

You don't want to win it more because it's someone in particular. Yeah, we got to put together a good plan.”

That sets the stage for a Week 5 matchup in London that looks a lot different from the Eagles teams Jacksonville saw before. Philadelphia is sitting at 2-2 and, in this view, doesn’t look nearly as sturdy as those earlier versions.

At the center of it all is Lawrence, who has been the Jaguars’ best player through four games. His play has been defined by cleaner decisions, sharper accuracy and a steady stream of high-end throws.

Against an Eagles defense that still has quality pieces and a solid scheme even with injuries, he won’t have it easy. But the expectation here is that he still takes over.

The projection is a big one: four total touchdowns for Lawrence, with three through the air and one on the ground. Over the Jaguars’ last 12 games, since Week 11 of 2025, he has completed 225-of-348 passes for 2,852 yards, 27 touchdowns and a 107.6 passer rating, while also adding 221 rushing yards and five scores. His 32 total touchdowns lead the NFL over that span, and another explosive day would only add to that run.

Jacksonville’s defense is also expected to carry over the dominant work it showed against Cincinnati. The Jaguars held the Bengals to 23 rushing yards last week, the fourth-fewest allowed in franchise history in a single game.

They have also gone 21 straight games without allowing a 75-yard rusher, the fourth-longest such streak in the last 50 seasons. With the Eagles dealing with changes along the offensive line and down to their third- and fourth-string running backs, the matchup on the ground looks rough for Philadelphia.

That includes the tush push, which has even been giving the Eagles trouble lately. Philadelphia got stopped on a key version of the play against the Los Angeles Rams last week, and Jacksonville’s front and linebackers, including Ventrell Miller and Foyesade Oluokun, are viewed as well built to handle it. The Eagles may lean on it anyway, since it remains a staple for them, but the Jaguars are expected to win a few of those battles on Sunday.

Takeaways could be another big swing area. Under Liam Coen and Anthony Campanile, Jacksonville has been forcing turnovers and cashing in when it gets them.

The Jaguars already have three red-zone takeaways in 2026, the most in the NFL, and they have turned those into an NFL-leading 38 points off takeaways. They have also produced 13 multiple-takeaway games dating back to Week 1 of last season, with No. 14 projected to arrive against an Eagles offense working through injuries and adapting to a new scheme under offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.

One more Jaguars defender is expected to make a statement: Arik Armstead. After a strong Week 4, he gets another favorable setup against an Eagles offensive line that no longer looks like the unit it once was.

With Lane Johnson and Cam Jurgens departing this week and Jeff Stoutland gone this offseason, the line has lost major pieces. Armstead has also been trending up, with 10 pressures over the last two weeks, and the prediction here is that he records his first two-sack game as a Jaguar.

Former Jaguars Pick Just Landed Back In The AFC South

The Texans dipped into the open market for some familiar AFC South help, adding linebacker Chad Muma, defensive back Jaden Davis and running back Deuce Vaughn to the practice squad as they work through injuries and depth concerns heading into their next game. For Jacksonville readers, Muma stands out as the former Jaguars draft pick now back in the division, a reminder of how quickly personnel can shuffle around this league this time of year.

Houston also is making a notable change on the sideline, with coach DeMeco Ryans saying he is resuming defensive play-calling duties. Between the roster moves and the shift in responsibility, the Texans are clearly trying to steady things on both sides of the ball, and Mumas addition gives them another experienced piece to sort through as they patch together their depth. Jaguars Get A Very Different Eagles Test In London

The Eagles arrive in London for Week 5 looking a lot different than the version the Jaguars saw on the schedule earlier in the year. Philadelphia has had meaningful roster turnover, with Lane Johnson retired and Cam Jurgens now in Baltimore, and that reshuffling has put extra pressure on a group that already has to adjust on the fly. For Jacksonville, it adds a layer of intrigue to a trip that was always going to test preparation and adaptability.

Willie Lampkin is expected to see more work as the Eagles sort through those changes up front, and the Jaguars will be watching closely to see how the matchup develops in a neutral-site setting. Trevor Lawrence and the offense have their own reasons to be encouraged entering the game, but this one feels less like a familiar NFC heavyweight showing up and more like a moving target the Jaguars will have to identify quickly. Jaguars Still Waiting On Key Secondary Voice Before Eagles Game

The Jaguars got a small but meaningful update in practice this week when safety Eric Murray moved from non-participant to limited as he continues through the NFLs concussion protocol. With a trip to face the Eagles in London coming up, any progress for a starter in the secondary matters, especially on a defense that has leaned on communication and quick adjustments early in the season.

Murrays status now gives Jacksonville a better chance of having one of its most experienced defensive voices available when it matters most. Several other Jaguars were also logged as limited or full participants heading into Week 5, but Murrays availability looms larger than most because of how much the defense values his presence on the back end.
