Travis Hunter is back at Jaguars camp, and the early signs point to a player who looks ready to make a real impact in Week 1.
Jacksonville expects Hunter to be fully healthy after the severe right knee injury that ended his rookie season early, and the bigger news is what he reportedly did during the offseason. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the 23-year-old two-way star added 10 pounds of muscle, and Hunter says that extra strength has not slowed him down one bit.
“Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter said today that he has put on 10 pounds of muscle and feels lighter on his feet as a result,” Schultz reported. “He's been running 21-22.5 MPH and has a goal of reaching 23 MPH - which would put him in Tyreek Hill territory.”
That speed is why Hunter remains such a fascinating piece for Jacksonville. Even with rumors suggesting the Jaguars may lean on him more heavily on defense, the team still plans to use him on offense as well. With Liam Coen now in charge, Hunter’s burst could make it hard to keep him off the field when the Jaguars have the ball.
The bigger picture is simple: Jacksonville wants a full season from Hunter. He was limited to seven games in the 2025-26 campaign, making four starts before the knee injury shut him down.
On offense, he finished with 29 catches for 298 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he added 15 combined tackles, including 11 solo stops, and three pass deflections.
