At the recent NFL league meetings, LA Rams' head coach Sean McVay shared some insightful thoughts on Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach Liam Coen and his remarkable impact during the 2025 season.
Coen, who previously served under McVay with the Rams as offensive coordinator, has clearly made his mark. McVay praised Coen, stating, "A great coach.
You could see that team took on his personality. I watched Jacksonville and a lot of the things they had on display are what I would hope you see when the Rams play and that’s a testament to Liam.”
Coen's influence was undeniable, as he was a finalist for the NFL's Coach of the Year award. In his first year at the helm, Coen transformed the Jaguars from a four-win team in 2024 to a powerhouse with 13 victories, clinching the AFC South title.
Under Coen's leadership, quarterback Trevor Lawrence experienced a resurgence, becoming a finalist for both the MVP and Comeback Player of the Year awards. The Jaguars' offense was electric, averaging nearly 33 points per game during an impressive eight-game winning streak to close the regular season. This offensive explosion set a new franchise record for most points scored in a season, with the team ranking seventh in points per game.
Coen achieved a historic milestone, becoming the only first-time head coach to win 12 or more games after taking over a team with four or fewer wins the previous season. But perhaps the most striking aspect of Coen's Jaguars is their resilience. Each week, Coen seemed to have the perfect touch, knowing exactly which buttons to press to keep his team performing at their best.
