Jarrian Jones kept making plays on Friday, and the Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback is turning a strong camp stretch into something impossible to ignore.
After opening the week with a pair of pass-breakups on Thursday, Jones came back with even more production the next day. Per SI.com’s John Shipley, he added two more pass-breakups and picked off two passes Friday, giving him one of the standout individual performances of the Jaguars’ training camp so far.
That kind of showing fits the profile Jones built last season. When he was called on, he delivered, posting a 78.4 overall defensive grade from Pro Football Focus.
Among 114 qualified NFL cornerbacks, that ranked fifth. He was effective against the run and in coverage, and his final numbers backed it up: 49 tackles, including 35 solo stops, six tackles for loss, eight passes defended and three interceptions across 17 games.
In a cornerback group that has real competition, Jones is making his case the old-fashioned way - by stacking plays. Montaric Brown, Travis Hunter and Jourdan Lewis are also in that mix, but Jones has done plenty to stay in the conversation.
Head coach Liam Coen made it clear after practice that the staff noticed.
"I thought today he had a really nice day. You know, got his hands on a lot of balls today," he said.
"He's physical when he plays with anticipation, and just plays free and he's not overthinking it, and we're not maybe putting him in positions to overthink, when he's able to just go play. He's a physical dude at the line of scrimmage.
He likes to be up front and challenge people in their faces. He likes to do those things.
And so we got to continue to put him in positions that he can be successful, but I've been really pleased with Jarrian."
With that kind of praise and that kind of production, Jones is giving the Jaguars every reason to believe he can take another step in 2026.
