Training camp is here for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the free-agent market still has a few recognizable names hanging around. The bigger question is whether any of them line up with what James Gladstone’s roster actually needs right now.
Gladstone has already shown he’s not afraid to keep adjusting the roster. Last summer made that clear, and this year’s team looks different again after a heavy wave of turnover in 2025 as he rebuilt things in his own image. Even so, not every open market name fits a Jacksonville depth chart that has been filling out in a few spots.
ESPN’s Matt Bowen recently ranked the top 14 free agents still available, and the list includes some players who would normally draw attention. For the Jaguars, though, the fit depends entirely on position.
Along the offensive line, the available names are OT Taylor Decker, OT Cam Robinson, G Kevin Zeitler, G Mekhi Becton and OT Jonah Williams. But Jacksonville doesn’t appear to have a real opening there. All nine players who were on the 53-man roster last season remain under contract, and the team also added Emmanuel Pregnon in the draft.
Wide receiver is another area where the Jaguars are already in good shape. The group is described as arguably the deepest on the roster, and Gladstone added two more players in the draft to help round out that room.
The one spot where a signing could actually make sense is edge rusher. Joey Bosa, Jadeveon Clowney and Haason Reddick are still out there, and while Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker are the headliners, edge is a position that gets rotated heavily. Depth matters there, and right now the Jaguars are leaning on a number of inexperienced players to soak up those snaps.
At tight end, Jonnu Smith is the lone notable name on the board, but Jacksonville doesn’t have a need there either. Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol have joined Brenton Strange and Quintin Morris, and Hunter Long could be on the outside looking in when roster cuts come.
Linebacker brings Bobby Wagner into the conversation, but that spot also looks crowded in Jacksonville. The Jaguars still need to replace Devin Lloyd, yet they already have several options on hand to compete for that starting role, which could lead to some difficult roster decisions.
The secondary also doesn’t look like a likely landing spot. Trevon Diggs is the available cornerback, while Donovan Wilson is the safety name on the list.
The back end of the cornerback depth chart still needs to settle, but Christian Braswell and Jabbar Muhammad seem to be the favorites for those final roster spots. At safety, five roster spots already look spoken for, so an addition there would be a surprise.

The Jaguars clearly see him as a difference-maker if he can stay on the field, and his role only adds to the sense that camp is less about finding out who this team is and more about figuring out how high the ceiling can go.
