With the final preseason game on deck Friday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Jacksonville Jaguars are down to their last real audition on offense. Training camp is wrapped, cutdown day is Sunday, and for a handful of players, this is the final chance to turn summer reps into a roster spot or a bigger role.
Here’s a fresh projection of how the Jaguars’ offensive depth chart stacks up heading into that game.
At quarterback, Trevor Lawerence sits at the top, followed by Nick Mullens, Carter Bradley and Joey Aguilar. Bradley has absorbed plenty of punishment in preseason action, but the snaps themselves point to him being ahead of Aguilar. His experience also gives him an edge if Jacksonville wants a third quarterback who can handle the scout team offense.
The backfield starts with Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez, LeQuint Allen, Ameer Abdullah, J'Mari Taylor and DeeJay Dallas. Taylor has made noise with his play, but Abdullah appears to have locked down the fourth running back spot.
The clearest clue is the workload he’s gotten in the previous preseason game. On top of that, his passing-down ability and return skills make him the likeliest option if Allen needs more time to recover.
Receiver is much less complicated. Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, Travis Hunter, CJ Williams and Josh Cameron are the top six, and that group is already set.
Williams and Cameron have done enough all summer to secure spots on the 53-man roster. If Jacksonville carries a seventh wideout, Austin Trammell looks like the best bet for that role, ahead of Tim Jones, Trebor Pena, Chandler Brayboy, Brady Boyd and Michael Wortham.
At tight end, Morris and Long are battling for what could be the fourth roster spot. Morris gets the nod here because of what he brings as a blocker and on special teams.
The offensive line picture is still moving, but the current starting setup seems to be Anton Harrison at left tackle, then Emmanuel Pregnon, Robert Hainsey, Ezra Cleveland and Walker Little. Once Cole Van Lanen is back, he’s expected to take over at right tackle, which could shuffle Little to right guard and push Cleveland back to right guard.
Behind that starting group, Jonah Monheim is the backup center and Daniel Faalele gives the Jaguars more interior help. Wyatt Milum and Chuma Edoga can work at both guard and tackle, which adds flexibility. If Patrick Mekari is excluded because he could begin the season on IR, that leaves nine offensive linemen who appear likely to make up the unit on the initial 53-man roster.
