The Jaguars get one more preseason test before the roster picture starts to harden, and the matchup comes with plenty to sort out. Tampa Bay visits EverBank Stadium with the Jaguars wrapping up exhibition play and the league’s Aug. 30 cutdown date right around the corner.
Kickoff is set for EverBank Stadium, with FOX-30 carrying the game on TV with Brian Sexton, Bucky Brooks and Brent Martineau. On radio, the call is on 1010-XL/92.5-FM with Frank Frangie, Jeff Lageman and Kainani Stevens.
BetMGM lists the Bucs as three-point favorites. Tampa Bay is at -155 on the money line, while the Jaguars are +130. The over-under sits at 35.5 points.
This is the 15th preseason meeting between the teams, and Jacksonville has the edge there at 9-5. In the regular season, though, the series is even at 4-4.
The most recent preseason matchup went the Jaguars’ way in 2024, when they beat Tampa Bay 20-7 at home. The Bucs took the latest regular-season meeting, winning 30-12 in Tampa on Dec. 24, 2023.
A few roster fights are still worth watching closely. At running back, undrafted rookie J'Mari Taylor made a splash against New Orleans, Ameer Abdullah turned heads last week against Carolina, and DeeJay Dallas remains part of the mix. This game could help decide who claims the fourth spot in the room.
Right tackle is another spot to keep an eye on. Walker Little looks lined up as the starter, but backup Chuma Edoga has not always been healthy, which leaves an opening for eight-year veteran Geron Christian Sr. and undrafted rookie Jimto Obidegwu.
The defensive tackle battle also has some heat to it, with Matt Dickerson and Ruke Orhorhoro competing to be the top backup to Arik Armstead. Both players flashed in practice this week.
After this one, the focus shifts fast. Cutdown day arrives Aug. 30, and the Jaguars then have 13 days to get ready for their opener in the 2026 season against the Cleveland Browns at EverBank Stadium. That game is set for 1 p.m. on CBS.

The preseason is winding down, and for a lot of Jaguars players, the final game is less about the scoreboard than survival. Jacksonville will meet Tampa Bay in Week 3 on Aug. 28 at EverBank Stadium, giving fringe roster hopefuls one last chance to make a case for a spot on the 53-man roster or at least earn an invitation back on the practice squad.
Among the players worth watching are undrafted rookies Joey Aguilar and Trebor Pea, both of whom have already turned enough heads to merit a closer look in the finale. The Jaguars close out the preseason Friday night against the Buccaneers at EverBank Stadium, and for Liam Coen it comes with a familiar opponent on the other sideline. Jacksonvilles head coach spent last season as Tampa Bays offensive coordinator, which adds a little extra texture to a game that otherwise serves as the final tuneup before the roster has to be pared down.
