The Jacksonville Jaguars have been keeping things relatively quiet this offseason, with a primary focus on retaining their current talent pool. Their only notable free agent acquisition so far has been running back Chris Rodriguez. With a tricky salary cap situation, it's clear that General Manager James Gladstone is opting to maintain continuity, eyeing the draft for new additions.
Despite a solid roster, there are still some gaps to fill, especially on the defensive side. The Jaguars boasted the best run defense last year, but the pass rush left much to be desired.
Addressing this, particularly by adding defensive tackles and edge rushers, is paramount. Adding a linebacker for depth could also be beneficial.
Gladstone likely has a draft strategy in mind, but there are still some under-the-radar free agents who could be valuable pickups without breaking the bank.
DE Joey Bosa
Joey Bosa is a name that resonates with fans, and after overcoming injuries, he put up impressive numbers with the Buffalo Bills last season. According to Pro Football Focus, Bosa logged 654 snaps, his highest since 2021, and amassed 54 pressures with an 85.5 pass-rush grade. His 15.0% pass-rush win rate ranked him 20th among edge defenders.
While some teams might be cautious due to his age and run defense, Bosa could be an ideal fit for the Jaguars. Defensive Coordinator Anthony Campanile’s focus is on enhancing the pass rush, and Bosa's skills align perfectly with this need. Though he may not be an every-down player, his veteran presence and leadership could be invaluable at a reasonable cost.
IDL Calais Campbell
Jaguars fans will remember Calais Campbell fondly from his 2017-2019 stint with the team. After a solid 2025 season with the Arizona Cardinals, a reunion could be in the cards.
Campbell's versatility allows him to bolster both the pass rush and run defense, fitting seamlessly into Campanile’s scheme. His experience would also make him a great mentor for younger players in the defensive tackle room.
DE Cameron Jordan
Cameron Jordan, a stalwart for the New Orleans Saints over 15 seasons, is exploring free agency for the first time. An eight-time Pro Bowler, Jordan remains a formidable pass rusher, having recorded 10 sacks last season, his best performance since 2021. Despite being 36, his leadership and ability to add depth to the defensive line make him a compelling option for the Jaguars.
As the Jaguars navigate their offseason strategy, these veteran free agents could provide the necessary boost to their defense, complementing the talent they already have and setting the stage for a strong 2026 campaign.
