Jaguars Crushed The Colts But Left Fans With One Big Worry

The Jaguars dominated their divisional rivals, the Colts, in a striking display of offensive versatility and strategic discipline, achieving a record-setting home winning streak.

The Jacksonville Jaguars turned a rainy Sunday in Duval into a blowout from the jump, rolling past the Indianapolis Colts 42-7 and extending their home dominance in the rivalry to 12 straight wins. Eleven of those have come in Jacksonville, with one more taking place in London, and this one never came close to being competitive after the opening quarter.

Jacksonville got on the board first with a 12-yard Brian Thomas Jr. touchdown reception, then kept stacking big plays until the game was effectively over. Nate Boerkircher’s first touchdown of his rookie season stood out as one of the cleanest moments of the afternoon, with the “Consensus Board All Star” tracking the ball over his opposite shoulder for the score and pushing the lead to two possessions.

From there, the Jaguars’ backfield took over. Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez combined for 217 total yards and three touchdowns, with Tuten doing damage both on the ground and through the air.

He finished with 16 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown, plus 55 receiving yards and another score. Rodriguez added 58 total yards and a touchdown of his own.

Together, the two backs piled up 145 rushing yards on 22 carries, and by halftime the result was already well in hand.

Trevor Lawrence was sharp before the break, going 7 of 11 for 138 yards and two touchdowns for a 146.8 passer rating. The Jaguars’ defense made sure Indianapolis never had a path back in, and a 92-yard pick-six from Ray Lane after a red-zone interception slammed the door shut. What had briefly looked like a chance for the Colts to make it a two-score game turned into the play that confirmed the rout.

Jacksonville kept adding on after halftime, including a 28-yard Chris Rodriguez touchdown run that stretched the lead to 35-0 in the third quarter. By the end, the Jaguars’ defense had piled up 4.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and two interceptions, including the pick-six.

There were other storylines mixed into the runaway win. The Jaguars cleaned up a penalty issue that had dogged them earlier in the season, after back-to-back weeks with 13 penalties in Weeks 5 and 6. They were flagged just six times against the Houston Texans and seven on Sunday.

Early in the first quarter, Jacksonville also sent Travis Hunter back to return a punt for the first time in the 2026 season. The move came with Parker Washington, a Pro Bowl-caliber punt returner, off the field, raising questions about whether the Jaguars are protecting Washington as a wide receiver piece for the future or simply looking for more chances to get the ball in Hunter’s hands. The return came right after Indianapolis had downed the opening punt at the two-yard line.

The biggest concern, though, came on defense. Davon Hamilton was carted off in the first half with a knee injury after the Jaguars recovered a fumble on a failed trick play.

Given how important he is to the league-leading run defense, his exit carried real weight despite the lopsided score. Jacksonville also saw Eric Murray leave with an elbow injury, Ezra Cleveland with an ankle injury, and Travon Walker with ribs.

Before kickoff, the Jaguars had several inactive players: Antonio Johnson, CJ Williams, Alijah Huzzie, Jamal Hill, Wesley Williams, and Albert Regis. Indianapolis was without Bryce Boettcher, Anthony Gould, Justin Walley, Pharaoh Brown, Kevin Givens, Charlie Heck, and Riley Leonard.

Jaguars Are Rolling At Home But One New Concern Just Loomed

The Jaguars kept their home dominance rolling against the Colts, and the latest win only added to what has become a striking pattern in Jacksonville. It was their seventh straight home victory by 17 or more points, a run that ties for the third-longest in NFL history, and they have topped 30 points in all three home games this season.

But the bigger concern coming out of Sunday was the injury list. Eric Murray, Ezra Cleveland and DaVon Hamilton all got hurt during the game, and Hamiltons knee issue looked especially troubling as the Jaguars head into a short week. Jacksonville now has to turn around quickly for Thursday nights matchup with the Ravens, a test made even more complicated by Baltimores own quarterback injury situation. [Read more 🡒]

Jaguars Get A Needed WR Boost Before A Huge Colts Test

The Jaguars got a welcome bit of clarity before a pivotal AFC South matchup, with the Week 8 inactive list showing Jakobi Meyers available against the Colts despite the earlier injury concern. His presence gives Jacksonville another option in the passing game alongside Parker Washington, and it comes at a time when the offense could use as many dependable targets as possible heading into a divisional test.

Several other players are on the inactive list, so the roster picture is not entirely clean, but the biggest takeaway for Jacksonville is that Meyers is in uniform for a game that carries real weight in the standings. Trevor Lawrence has already voiced confidence in what this group can be, and now the Jaguars get a chance to back that up with a healthier receiving setup in front of a key home stretch. Jaguars Face A Brian Thomas Jr Decision Fans Never Expected

Brian Thomas Jr. has become one of the more surprising names to surface as the trade deadline approaches, with the Chiefs, Steelers and Commanders all reportedly showing interest in a deal for the Jaguars wide receiver. For Jacksonville, it is the kind of development that would have seemed far-fetched not long ago, especially after Thomas flashed as a rookie and looked like a foundational piece in the passing game.

His production has dipped since then, and his 2026 numbers have not matched the expectations that followed his debut season. With several teams hunting for help at receiver, the interest around Thomas only adds to the pressure on Jacksonville to decide whether this is a short-term blip, a deeper concern, or the kind of opportunity that could force a difficult conversation before the deadline.
