The Jaguars are down to the wire, with final roster cuts due Sunday, and News4JAX sports reporters Jamal St. Cyr and Justin Barney have put together their last 53-man projections.
One wrinkle in the mix: Travis Hunter is listed at two positions, but he still counts as just one roster spot.
At quarterback, both projections are the same. Trevor Lawrence and Nick Mullens are in.
Running back is where the two lists start to separate. Jamal has Ameer Abdullah, LeQuint Allen Jr., Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten making the cut. Justin’s version leaves out Abdullah and instead keeps Allen Jr., Rodriguez Jr. and Tuten.
Tight end is identical on both boards, with Nate Boerkircher, Tanner Koziol and Brenton Strange projected to make the team.
Receiver also matches up across the board. Josh Cameron, Travis Hunter, Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington and CJ Williams are all in for both Jamal and Justin.
The offensive line is where the picture gets a little busier. Jamal projects Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainsey, Anton Harrison, Walker Little, Patrick Mekari, Wyatt Milum, Jonah Monheim, Emmanuel Pregnon and Cole Van Lanen. Justin’s version keeps Cleveland, Chuma Edoga, Hainsey, Robert Hainsey, Anton Harrison, Walker Little, Patrick Mekari, Wyatt Milum, Jonah Monheim, Emmanuel Pregnon and Cole Van Lanen.
Up front on the defensive line, the two projections line up on a deep group that includes Arik Armstead, Matt Dickerson, Zach Durfee, BJ Green II, DaVon Hamilton, Josh Hines-Allen, Ruke Orhorhoro, Albert Regis, Danny Striggow, Travon Walker and Wesley Williams.
At linebacker, both lists have Dennis Gardeck, Ventrell Miller, Foye Oluokun and Jahlani Tavai. Jamal also includes Branson Combs, while Justin does too, with Combs marked below on Jamal’s side.
Cornerback is another area where the two projections are fully aligned. Christian Braswell, Montaric Brown, Travis Hunter, Jarrian Jones, Jourdan Lewis and Jabbar Muhammad are all projected to make it.
Safety is close, but not identical. Jamal has Jalen Huskey, Antonio Johnson, Rayuan Lane III, Eric Murray and Caleb Ransaw. Justin’s list includes the same group, with Eric Murray shown below.
Special teams is unchanged from one projection to the other: Logan Cooke, Cam Little and Ross Matiscik.
With Sunday’s deadline approaching, these are the final calls from both reporters as the Jaguars sort out the last few spots on the roster.
