Iowa State's Joshua Jefferson is making waves in the college basketball scene, and for good reason. The senior forward has been honored as a second team All-American by both the NABC and the USBWA, adding to his impressive accolades this season.
Just last week, Jefferson earned a spot as a First Team All-American by The Sporting News and was recognized by the Associated Press on the second team. These honors from the four major organizations cement his status as a consensus second team All-American-a significant achievement, marking him as the fifth in Iowa State’s history and the first since Georges Niang in 2016.
Jefferson isn't just collecting awards; he’s redefining versatility on the court. Known as Mr.
Do-It-All for the Cyclones, he’s the first player in Big 12 history to notch multiple triple-doubles in conference play. His stats are eye-popping: 16.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
No other Power Conference player is matching those numbers this season, and only five players nationwide have done so since 1974-75. Jefferson's consistency is equally remarkable, scoring in double figures in all 34 games this season-the third-most in school history.
His streak of 40 consecutive games in double figures is the second-longest in the nation.
With 167 assists this season, Jefferson is tied for the 19th-most in Iowa State history, and his 276 assists over the past two seasons rank 18th for a career at the school.
As the Cyclones gear up for the NCAA Tournament, they’ll be looking to Jefferson’s leadership and skill to guide them. Iowa State, a second seed, faces 15th-seeded Tennessee State in the first round in St.
Louis. Tipoff is set for 1:50 p.m. on CBS, and fans will be eager to see if Jefferson can continue his stellar play on the national stage.
