AMES - Iowa State continues to stay active in the transfer portal, and this latest move adds some much-needed experience to the Cyclones' secondary. Former Arkansas cornerback Jaheim Singletary is headed to Ames, giving Jimmy Rogers and his staff a veteran presence in a young defensive backfield.
Singletary brings with him a resume that includes stints at two SEC powerhouses. He began his college career at Georgia in 2022, where he redshirted during his freshman year.
From there, he transferred to Arkansas, where he steadily carved out a bigger role over three seasons. By 2024, he had worked his way into the Razorbacks’ starting lineup, logging six starts that year and picking off the first pass of his college career.
In 2025, he appeared in nine games and made two starts, finishing the season with nine tackles.
Now, with one year of eligibility left, Singletary is set to suit up for the Cyclones in 2026 - and his arrival couldn’t come at a better time.
Iowa State’s cornerback room is talented but green. Outside of Singletary and the seldom-used Beni Ngoyi, the group is largely made up of underclassmen still finding their footing at the college level. That makes Singletary’s SEC experience a valuable asset - not just for what he can do on the field, but for the leadership he can offer in the film room and on the practice field.
For a defense that’s looking to reload rather than rebuild, especially in the Big 12’s ever-evolving offensive landscape, adding a player who’s seen the speed and physicality of SEC football is a smart move. Singletary won’t just compete for a starting job - he’ll likely be expected to help set the tone for a unit that’s still growing.
With the 2026 season on the horizon, Iowa State is building a defense that blends youth with experience - and Singletary’s arrival is another step in that direction.
