Iowa’s women’s basketball program is putting together the kind of recruiting run that gets people’s attention fast.
With Jan Jensen already having secured major talent, the Hawkeyes are now in position to add another big name in the class of 2027. One more decision is still coming, and if it breaks Iowa’s way, the 2027 group could pair with the 2026 class to give the Hawkeyes a serious load of talent in Iowa City.
The player at the center of it is Mya Wilson, a four-star guard who is down to four schools. Iowa made the final cut along with Ohio State, Minnesota and TCU. Wilson visited Iowa in June and is scheduled to meet with the other programs soon.
Wilson, a 6-foot-1 shooting forward from Hill-Murray High School in Maplewood, Minnesota, is the No. 1 recruit in her state. Per 247Sports, she is ranked No. 11 among shooting forwards and No. 44 overall in the class of 2027.
If Iowa gets Wilson, it would add another major piece to a class already headlined by another four-star.
That player is Jada Seubert, a four-star combo guard from Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Like Wilson, Seubert is the top recruit in her state.
She is ranked No. 4 among combo guards and No. 45 overall in the 2027 class. Iowa currently sits at No. 6 in the 2027 team rankings, and landing both Seubert and Wilson would almost certainly push the Hawkeyes into the top five.
The momentum doesn’t stop there. Iowa’s 2026 class includes McKenna Woliczko, a five-star talent from San Jose, California, and one who could step in right away this year. The 2025 class also brought in another five-star in Addie Deal through the traditional recruiting process, although Deal has since moved on via the transfer portal.
Still, that original commitment is part of the bigger picture. Iowa’s recruiting has been working, and the Hawkeyes are now very much in the mix to turn that work into one of the stronger classes in the country.
