Iowa basketball is in the mix for one of the top point guards in the 2027 class.
Four-star guard TJ Jamison of Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana, trimmed his list to six schools: Iowa, USC, Oklahoma, Baylor, LSU and Miami (Fla.). He is set to announce his decision on Saturday, July 25th.
Jamison is ranked 36th nationally in the 2027 high school recruiting class by the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard has built his profile around a well-rounded game, and he didn’t shy away from describing it himself.
“I pretty much do everything on the court," Jamison said of his skillset. "I can shoot the ball very well.
I can get to the paint, make other guys better. I can finish at the rim.
I can play defense, pick up 94 (feet). I do everything.”
Iowa got a look at him in June, when Jamison made a visit to campus. His interest in the Hawkeyes picked up after Ben McCollum and his staff arrived, and he pointed to McCollum’s track record as a major reason Iowa entered the picture.
“I didn’t really know much about the program until Ben (McCollum) and them really got there," Jamison told the Register in May. "But once they started recruiting me, I started looking at their background.
Coach Ben has a winning background - any program he’s been at. The way he develops his guards and stuff like that.
They have a really good culture there (that) they’re building.”
Jamison also laid out the traits he’s looking for in a school, and they line up with the kind of role he wants when he arrives on campus.
“A family-like program, being away from home. A coach that’s going to stay on me hard, tell me the truth. And a coach also that’s going to trust in me, coming in as a freshman, to lead their team and give me the keys.”
Iowa’s 2027 class already has one commitment. Versatile 6-foot-10 Keller Daugherty is a four-star prospect ranked 88th nationally by the 247Sports Composite.

McKenna Woliczko arrived in Iowa City over the summer with plenty of buzz attached to her name, and the five-star freshman from California has already started turning that reputation into something more tangible. The early months have been about the usual college transition, but also about refining the parts of her game that will matter most in the Big Ten, especially her perimeter shooting and overall physicality. Head coach Jan Jensen has liked what she has seen from the freshman forward, pointing to her versatility and the way she has handled the adjustment period.
For Iowa, the appeal is obvious. Woliczko was brought in as a player who can fit into multiple spots in the lineup, and the Hawkeyes are counting on her to be part of a bigger shift in how they want to play this season.
