Iowa added another major name to its 2028 board on Wednesday, offering Bixby (Okla.) South Central Prep composite four-star guard Parker McDaniel, one of the class’s best shooters and a player whose stock is already trending up.
McDaniel checks in at 6-foot-3 and 170 pounds and is currently ranked No. 97 overall in the 2028 class by 247Sports, though that number is expected to climb after the summer he put together with Southern Assault on the 3SSB Circuit.
The latest proof came at Adidas Nationals this past weekend, where McDaniel put up big numbers across the board: 27.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He also shot 59 percent from the field and 51.9 percent from three, the kind of efficiency that makes him such an attractive target for college staffs.
Iowa wasn’t the only program watching him, but McDaniel said the event gave schools a clearer look at more than just the jumper.
"Everyone knows I can shoot; that's my main thing, but a lot of people wanted me to prove on the defensive end that I could guard," McDaniel said. "I'm sure that was one of the main things and I proved that I could run the one and play the point at times, too.
That was a big thing I also proved. The defensive end was the main thing, though, for sure."
That all adds up to why Iowa views him as a top-school type of recruit in the 2028 cycle.
