Iowa Football Linemen Earn Rare Honor That Extends Impressive Streak

Anchored by standout seasons from Logan Jones and Beau Stephens, Iowas offensive line continues to earn national acclaim and historic recognition.

IOWA CITY - Iowa football’s offensive line has long been a point of pride in the program’s DNA, and in 2025, that tradition continues in a big way. Center Logan Jones and left guard Beau Stephens have been named AP First-Team All-Americans - a well-earned recognition for two of the anchors behind one of the most physical and consistent O-lines in the country.

This marks the seventh straight season the Hawkeyes have landed at least one player on the AP’s top team, and the 10th time in the last 12 years. That’s not just a streak - that’s a culture.

Jones, in particular, has had a season to remember. He took home the 2025 Rimington Trophy, awarded annually to the best center in Division I college football.

That puts him in elite company, joining Tyler Linderbaum as just the second Hawkeye to ever win the award. For Iowa fans, that’s a familiar name - and a reminder that the bar in Iowa City is set sky-high when it comes to line play.

Both Jones and Stephens started all 12 regular-season games this year, with Jones locking down the middle at center and Stephens holding it down at left guard. Together, they helped power a ground game that averaged 177.8 rushing yards per game - a number that speaks volumes about their ability to control the trenches.

But this recognition isn’t just about one season. Jones and Stephens have been fixtures on this line for multiple years, helping guide the unit through a crucial rebuild under offensive line coach George Barnett.

After a couple of seasons where the line didn’t quite meet the program’s usual standard, Iowa has reestablished itself as one of the most punishing and technically sound fronts in college football. That turnaround didn’t happen overnight - it’s been the result of development, cohesion, and a whole lot of reps.

And the accolades don’t stop with the individual honors. Iowa’s entire offensive line is a finalist for the 2025 Joe Moore Award, given to the best O-line unit in the nation. That nod reflects not just talent, but the kind of chemistry and execution that separates good lines from great ones.

In a program that’s built its identity around toughness, discipline, and line play, Jones and Stephens have more than lived up to the legacy. They’ve helped bring Iowa’s offensive line back to the national spotlight - and they’re not done yet.
