The Summer League stage is set, and for Iowa basketball fans, it offers the first real look at four former Hawkeyes in NBA uniforms.
Bennett Stirtz, Payton Sandfort, and Josh Dix will all be with the Oklahoma City Thunder when play begins next weekend in Las Vegas. Brendan Hausen is headed to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Stirtz arrives with the most obvious spotlight. As the first-round pick among the group, he should have a chance to log plenty of minutes early and show what he can do. Sandfort and Dix are in a different kind of fight: they’ll need to earn their way, with roster spots and two-way contracts in play.
Oklahoma City’s slate starts with a matchup that will bring all four former Hawkeyes together right away. The Thunder open against Memphis on Saturday, July 4 at 2 p.m. CST, with TV information still to be determined.
After that, Oklahoma City continues through a packed schedule: Monday, July 6 vs.

Hausen’s path is a little different. His deal is only for Summer League right now, which means Memphis is a prove-it opportunity from the jump.
He’ll need to stand out in a hurry to land another contract, and the simplest way to do that is the one thing he’s built to do: knock down shots from deep. In the NBA, that kind of 3-point shooting always gets attention.
Memphis’ Summer League schedule was not listed in the source beyond the opener against Oklahoma City.
For Iowa fans, that first game is the one to circle. It’s the only one that puts all four former Hawkeyes on the floor at the same time, and it tips off next Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.

High school baseball in Iowa has entered the part of the calendar where every big swing and every dominant outing starts to carry a little extra weight, and that has Hawkeyes fans with a reason to keep an eye on the statewide picture. High School On SI Iowa has opened voting for its midseason player of the year across five classifications, with nominees and their numbers through June 28 serving as a snapshot of who has separated himself before the stretch run.
The race is meant to be a fun one, but it also offers a look at some of the talent making noise just before the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Baseball Tournament begins July 20.
