Tyrese Maxey may be one of the NBA’s biggest names right now, but even he had a clear fanboy moment when he crossed paths with Caitlin Clark.
After the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Indiana Pacers 114-109 on the road, Maxey got to meet the former Iowa star and current Indiana Fever standout for the first time. He said the moment was “really cool,” and admitted he was trying not to “fan out” while talking to her.
Maxey also made it plain that he follows Clark’s game closely. He called her “cold,” a quick line that said plenty about how much respect he has for what she does on the floor.
That reaction fits the kind of season Clark has put together. She wrapped up 2026 with career highs in points at 22.3, field goal percentage at 44.6, and three-point percentage at 36.1.
She also earned her second All-WNBA First-Team selection in three seasons and was in the MVP conversation for much of the year. Even with the Fever falling short of a championship, she still added more records to her name and stayed one of the most visible athletes anywhere.
Clark’s profile stretches well beyond the WNBA, too. She is a regular presence at Indiana Pacers games, and Tyrese Haliburton and other Pacers players often show up at Fever games as well. Since entering the league in 2024, Clark has helped drive the WNBA’s surge in popularity, and moments like this only reinforce how far her reach has gone.
For Maxey, the surprise was simple: he was starstruck. And for Clark, it was just another reminder that her game is commanding attention from the biggest names in basketball.

Future Hawkeye Turns Heads As Iowa Centers Earn Early National Buzz
Iowas center pipeline is drawing plenty of attention before the season even gets rolling. For a program that has long valued size, strength and production in the middle, Iowa suddenly has multiple bigs getting noticed well beyond Iowa City. [Read more 🡒]
Iowa Just Made A Big Ten Statement Wisconsin Fans Wont Forget
A milestone rivalry game turned into a lopsided afternoon in Iowa City, where Iowa blanked No. 25 Wisconsin 30-0 in the 100th meeting between the longtime Big Ten foes. Hank Brown guided the offense with 222 passing yards and two touchdowns, while the Hawkeyes defense kept Wisconsin in check all day and held the Badgers to 235 total yards.
For Iowa, it was the kind of result that resonates well beyond one Saturday, especially against a ranked opponent in a series that had been dead even for decades. The shutout also marked the second straight time Iowa has blanked Wisconsin, and it pushed the all-time series to 49-49-2, a striking note in a matchup that has now produced plenty of history and a fresh dose of frustration for Luke Fickells team. Iowa Just Sent Wisconsin Another Message Fans Wont Ignore
Iowas latest trip through the Big Ten rivalry lane brought another emphatic result, and this one carried a little extra weight. The Hawkeyes rolled past Wisconsin 30-0, extending their winning streak over the Badgers to five straight while posting a second consecutive shutout, a reminder that this matchup has tilted hard in Iowas favor.
Hank Brown gave the offense the kind of steady night it has been looking for, completing 20 of 24 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns as the Hawkeyes controlled the game on both sides of the ball. The defense kept Wisconsin from ever finding a rhythm, and the coaching staffs adjustments showed up again, even if ball-security issues like Xavier Williams fumbles still linger as something Iowa will want cleaned up before the schedule gets tougher.
